The Hallandale Beach Police Department needs your help locating 17-year-old George Matthew Harper, last seen September 28, 2026, at approximately 6 p.m., heading to Ingalls Park.

George was wearing a gray shirt and black Nike pants. He does not have a vehicle or cellphone and is known to frequent the Hollywood area.

There is concern for his safety and well-being.

🚨 DON’T LET THIS CLOSURE DERAIL YOUR PLANS!

A major traffic change is coming to Hallandale Beach, and we want you to know **before you go.**

Beginning **Saturday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m., Hallandale Beach Boulevard will be FULLY CLOSED at the FEC railroad crossing near Dixie Highway** for scheduled railroad crossing repairs.

The closure is scheduled to remain in effect through Tuesday, October 13 at 10:00 p.m.

🚧 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

▪️ All travel lanes across the railroad tracks will be closed.
▪️ The pedestrian crossing at the railroad tracks will also be closed.
▪️ Detours will be in place.
▪️ Business and local access will be maintained.
▪️ Expect additional traffic and delays on surrounding roadways.

**PLAN AHEAD.** If Hallandale Beach Boulevard is part of your regular route, start thinking about your alternate route now. Allow additional travel time and follow all posted detour signs.

Do you recognize this pup?

This friendly male Labrador mix was found near the 600 block of NE 8th Avenue in Hallandale Beach on September 25, 2026. He appears to be in good health but was found without a collar and does not appear to be microchipped.

We’d love to help get him safely back home. ❤️

🚆 STOP. LOOK. LISTEN. LIVE.

Rail Safety Week is underway, and one message can make all the difference: never take a chance around railroad tracks.

A lowered gate means stop. Flashing lights mean stop. And if traffic ahead prevents you from completely clearing the tracks, do not enter the crossing.

Every driver, pedestrian and cyclist has a role in rail safety. A few extra seconds of patience can prevent a tragedy.

The goal is simple: prevent incidents on and around railroad tracks through education, awareness and partnership.

As members of our Jewish community observe this sacred Day of Atonement through prayer, fasting, reflection, and time with family and community, the Hallandale Beach Police Department extends our sincere wishes for a meaningful and peaceful observance.

We also ask motorists to remain especially attentive near houses of worship and throughout our neighborhoods, as residents may be walking to and from services.

That’s why rail safety is getting our attention this September.

🚆 On September 17, from 7–10 AM, rail safety partners will be in Hallandale Beach helping us remind drivers, pedestrians and cyclists about one simple responsibility:

Never take a chance around the tracks.

The local outreach comes just ahead of Rail Safety Week, September 21–27, when communities across the country will work together to prevent incidents on and around railroad tracks.

We want Hallandale Beach to be part of that effort.

2,977 lives were lost on September 11, 2001.

Among them were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers and 37 Port Authority Police Department officers who answered the call that morning.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those who never came home, the first responders who ran toward danger, and those who later became ill or lost their lives because of their service.

Their courage remains a powerful reminder of what it means to answer the call when others need us most.

Today, HBPD honors every life lost, every family forever changed and every first responder who served.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
