🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: OVERNIGHT A1A CLOSURE 🚧

If you plan to drive along the beach this weekend, you will need to adjust your route. The City of Hollywood has notified us that crews are scheduled to remove the pedestrian bridge that connects the Diplomat Beach Resort to its parking garage, which requires closing all lanes of A1A.

The Details
📆 When: Saturday, May 30 through Sunday, May 31
⏰ Hours: 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
📍 Where: A1A will be completely closed in both directions between Hallandale Beach Boulevard and the Diplomat Beach Resort area.

🚗 Detour Routes
To travel between Hallandale Beach and Hollywood during these hours, please use US-1/Federal Highway via either:

* Hallandale Beach Boulevard
* Hollywood Boulevard

Hallandale Beach Police officers and clear detour signs will be stationed along the route to keep traffic moving safely.

Staying Safe and On Time
Because this is a major artery, traffic will back up on the surrounding roads. Please give yourself plenty of extra travel time, check your preferred traffic app before leaving the house, and watch the road for officer directions.

We appreciate your patience as this project is completed safely. For live updates over the weekend, please monitor the Hallandale Beach Police Department social media pages.

This week, the Hallandale Beach Police Department joins law enforcement agencies across the nation in recognizing National Police Week, a time to honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of the men and women who wear the badge and to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty. 🇺🇸🚔

First established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National Police Week serves as a solemn reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face each day in service to their communities. During this week, we pay special tribute to the fallen heroes whose dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the 38th Annual Candlelight Vigil in Washington, D.C., will honor officers whose names have recently been added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.

To the families of the fallen, we stand with you.
To those who continue to serve, we thank you.
And to the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, we will never forget your service and commitment to protecting others.

Please join us this week as we remember, honor, and reflect on the true meaning of service.

Before Siri…
Before Google Maps…
Before life360…

There was Mom.

“Drive safe.”
“Text me when you get there.”
“Lock your doors.”
“Watch your surroundings.”
“Don’t get in the car with strangers.”
“Wear your seatbelt.”

Turns out… Mom was giving public safety advice long before we were. 🚔

This Mother’s Day, the Hallandale Beach Police Department wishes all the incredible moms, grandmothers, guardians, and mother figures in our community a safe and Happy Mother’s Day. Thank you for always protecting what matters most. 💐
