On 09/04/26, HPD attempted to pull over a silver Chrysler for vehicle code violations. The driver attempted to elude the officers, the driver drove into the Mobile Home Park on N Hwy 124, jumped from the car and fled on foot. With the assistance of citizens in the area, the suspect was located and apprehended. The suspect was identified as William Thomas Allen Smith, from Centralia, who was wanted for felony warrant. He was transported to Boone County Jail and booked for outstanding felony warrant as well as resisting arrest.

HPD Officers would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped this afternoon in locating the little girl. Especially thankful for the Boone County Sheriff's office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Boone County Fire, who were there helping look for and locate the missing girl. Also thank you to everyone in the community who came out to help including neighbors and teachers. Thank you to everyone for the effort to bring the little girl home.

Every year during this time, we take numerous reports of thefts from vehicles, from which people lose purses, fi****ms and wallets that are left in unsecure vehicles. On 05/07/26, HPD assisted Boone County Sheriffs Office with the pursuit of a homicide suspect who was fleeing northbound Hwy 63. HPD Officer successfully spiked the left front tire of the vehicle. The suspect continued Northbound Hwy 63 at high speeds, until the vehicle was pitted by a Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper. A standoff ensued with the wrecked vehicle, the driver was later found inside deceased.

On Friday, May 1st, HPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a Honda, and Johnathan Ehler was arrested for a warrant.

On Friday, May 1st, HPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet truck, and through a search, John Calvert was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

On 4/30/2026, HPD assisted Boone County Sheriffs Dept. on a pursuit. An HPD Officer deployed spikes at Hauge Rd and Mount Zion Rd, puncturing and disabling the left front tire of the fleeing mini van. The driver continued fleeing, eventually loosing the left front tire as he continued driving. The driver eventually stopped on Shelly Ln and was taken into custody.
