One of the goals for our leadership action team in Leader in Me this year is to truly model what it means to be a servant leader. Students will be putting together birthday bags (do not know who for) for members of our Backpack Club. We would love to add some more color to these bags. 🌟 Our FIRST Leadership Rally of the year! 🌟

And the best part? It was completely led by our Student Lighthouse Team! 💜🐾 Our student leaders took the stage and showed us exactly what it means to Lead. Grow. Serve.

They invited some of our 1st and 2nd grade leaders to help with the pledges and dance party (they chose Dolly Parton- “Workin’ 9:00-5:00), shared our campus WIGs (Wildly Important Goals), and celebrated all the great things happening at East!

🎯 Our Campus WIGs:
• Maintain a 96% campus attendance average throughout the school year
• Have 80% of students reading on or above grade level

🏆 We celebrated grade levels for:
• Cleanest bathrooms
• Best cafeteria behavior & cleanliness
• Best library behavior
• Fine Arts Award
• Best attendance for August

Our leaders also introduced our September Habit of the Month: Habit 1 — Be Proactive! 💡 You are in charge of YOU!

Our Leadership Action Team shared about two upcoming service projects- collecting cans for a local Hallsville resident and collecting tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. ❤️

We were also excited to welcome the Boy Scouts, who stopped by to share a special message with our students and made it even better by inviting some of our very own East Boy Scouts to join them! ⚜️🐾

And because no East rally is complete without a little friendly competition…the STAFF took the field for a soccer game! ⚽😂

There was dancing, cheering, celebrating, serving, goal-setting, and SO much fun- but most importantly, our students were the ones leading it all.

We had a great first full week of school! Lots of learning has been happening, new friendships are growing, and our school is happy and buzzing with excitement! ​

Here’s a quick heads-up for next Friday, August 28th:
🎉 PTO Spirit Store will be open Friday morning. Check out the flyer below and the PTO page for more information.
⭐ Leadership Rally will also be that morning. Be sure your student is on time so they don’t miss it!
🍿 Snack Shack is coming! Our Student Lighthouse Team will host the first Snack Shack of the year. Pre-order forms will go home for Pre-K, Kinder, and SL. Cash only. Please see the flyer for details.

🏈We also want to go ahead and let everyone know what the homecoming spirit days will consist of, so you can start preparing now. Check out the flyer for details.

We have SO many people to thank for helping us kick off another amazing school year at East! 💜🐾

🎉 First, THANK YOU to the businesses and individuals who donated items for our staff giveaways during Back-to-School Professional Development! Your generosity added a little extra fun and excitement to our days of learning and preparing for our students.

☀️ A separate BIG THANK YOU to those who donated to our East Sunshine Fund! These donations allow us to love on, celebrate, encourage, and support our staff throughout the school year. Your generosity will continue making a difference all year long!

🐔 And finally, a huge THANK YOU to Chick-fil-A for the Back-to-School gift basket and for providing a coupon for a FREE chicken sandwich or 8-count nuggets for every single East staff member! Such a fun surprise to help us celebrate making it through our first full week of school!

Different gifts, different groups of generous people, but one thing they all have in common- they chose to support our East family. 💜
