Bainbridge Fire Department Establishes Specialty Grain Bin and Rope Rescue Units Thanks to Community Donations and Training Partnerships

We are proud to recognize Nutrien Ag Solutions of Bainbridge and the Bainbridge/Perry Township Mennonite community for their generous donation of funds. These contributions have enabled the department to purchase vital equipment and provide advanced training for personnel to establish specialized grain bin and rope rescue units.

Fire department staff are currently undergoing the technical training required to safely operate these specialty rescue units. This new capability will provide a profound benefit not only to our local community but also to the surrounding regional areas through mutual aid agreements, ensuring enhanced safety for agricultural workers and residents across the region.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Ohio Fire Academy for their invaluable assistance in facilitating and conducting this critical training.

Thanks to the incredible support of our community partners and regional training leaders, our department is better equipped to respond to specialized emergencies and protect lives.

Any Departments wishing to bring apparatus to participate in Donald “Peanut” Norman’s funeral procession lineup will be at Hills Funeral Home in Kingston on Friday August 7. Arrive no later than 12:30 to lineup. Funeral service starts at 1:00. Procession will then leave Hills to the Hallsville Cemetery.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of retired member Donald Norman or as most knew him as Peanut. Peanut was one of the last founding members of the Colerain Twp. Fire Dept. and will be dearly missed. Not only did Peanut serve the residents of Colerain Twp. but he also served his country. Without Peanut and the ones before us we would not be where we are today and for that we are so grateful. Always remember the ones before you. Rest easy our brother we have the watch from here.
