Exciting things are happening at HMS!

Big things are growing in Halstead! 🌱

Healthy Harvey Coalition is excited to partner with USD 440 through the Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Farm to School Package to expand greenhouse and garden opportunities for students.

This work will help Halstead-Bentley USD 440 School District build on its existing greenhouse program by creating more space for hands-on learning, growing fresh produce, and connecting students to agriculture, STEM, food systems, and healthy eating habits.

From seed starting and plant science to student plant sales, school kitchen use, and future community partnerships, this project is about much more than a greenhouse. It is about helping students understand where food comes from, building practical skills, and increasing access to fresh, healthy foods.

We are grateful for USD 440’s commitment to this work and for the support of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas through Pathways to a Healthy Kansas.

We can’t wait to see what students grow next!

USD 440 is excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Jared Kirkpatrick as the next Principal of Halstead High School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Mr. Kirkpatrick currently serves as the Athletic Director and Middle School Principal in the Haven School District. He has served as an administrator in Haven for the past seven years, which includes valuable experience as a High School Principal. His background provides a strong foundation in instructional leadership, student achievement, and school operations.

Please join us in congratulating and welcoming Mr. Kirkpatrick to the Dragon Family. We look forward to the leadership, experience, and dedication he will bring to Halstead High School and the USD 440 community.

🚨🚨 8th GRADE PROMOTION TIME CHANGE 🚨🚨

Due to the forecasted severe weather this evening, we will be moving the start time of the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony to 6:00 p.m.

Students should report to the cafeteria by 5:45 p.m. Band and choir students should report to their respective rooms by 5:30 p.m.
