My apologies for the long post, but it was a big weekend for HFD!
HFD members, along with their families and several high school students earning community service hours, had a busy—but fun and rewarding—weekend at Hamburg Fire Station.
We kicked things off Friday by picking up the meat for the Tab Harrod Memorial Scholarship fundraiser. Saturday morning started early with a firefighters’ breakfast, followed by prepping the meat and beginning the cooking process. Later that afternoon, families joined us for an in-house crawfish boil.
Throughout the day, firefighters also took time for training, including hose tracing in full turnout gear and working on SCBA air, giving families a chance to watch and learn more about what we do. Saturday’s activities wrapped up around 8 PM.
Sunday started even earlier, with some firefighters returning at 3 AM to begin final cooking so BBQ plates would be ready for pickup at 11 AM. Families came back around 9:30 AM to help prepare plates, and from 11 AM to 2 PM, we served 600+ BBQ to-go plates.
Afterward, everyone pitched in to clean up, and we wrapped up the weekend around 4 PM.
A huge thank you to our HFD crew, their families, the high school volunteers, and especially the community members who supported us by purchasing plates. This fundraiser would not be possible without each and every one of you.
THANK YOU!!
