The Taste of Hamburg-er Festival 2026 is finally here!

Hamburg EMS is honored to provide Emergency Medical Services throughout today’s festival and help keep our community and visitors safe.

🚑 Come visit us at 260 State Street!
We’ll have a staffed ambulance on site, and our team will be offering FREE Hands-Only CPR instruction throughout the day. Stop by, learn a lifesaving skill, check out the ambulance, meet our crews, or ask us any questions you may have about EMS!

In addition to our State Street location, several Hamburg EMS units and crews will be strategically stationed throughout the festival to quickly respond to any incidents. We will also have ambulances in service and ready to respond to 911 calls throughout our coverage area while the festival is underway.

We’re looking forward to a busy and exciting day in Hamburg!

We want to take a moment to say Thank You.
The outpouring of support, messages, phone calls, and concern for our Hamburg EMS providers following this incident has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that stands behind its first responders.
We also hope this incident brings awareness to something that EMS providers across the country face every day.
When an ambulance is called, our EMTs and Paramedics respond because someone needs help. We enter homes, vehicles, businesses, highways, and unpredictable situations—often with very little information about what we are walking into. Our providers are there to care for people, but unfortunately, there are times when the people who came to help become the ones in danger.
Violence against EMS providers is not simply “part of the job.”
Our providers should be able to come to work, care for their community, and return home safely to their families at the end of their shift.
Behind the uniform are mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors. These incidents don't simply end when the call is cleared. The physical and emotional effects can follow first responders long after the ambulance doors close.
We are extremely proud of our Hamburg EMS team and the professionalism, compassion, and dedication they continue to demonstrate—even during some of the most difficult circumstances.
We are also incredibly thankful for our law enforcement partners, fellow first responders, dispatchers, healthcare professionals, and everyone who works beside us to protect both our patients and our crews.
Most of all, thank you to our community for having our backs.
Please continue to support your local EMS providers, check on the first responders in your life, and remember that the people answering your call for help are people, too.
We will continue to show up for our community.

After two Hamburg EMS providers were attacked while transporting a patient, another first responder shares his own frightening experience.

Yesterday, Hamburg EMS responded to a trail rescue after an individual suffered an ankle injury while hiking.

Members of Kempton Fire Company used their ATV to access the patient and safely bring them out to our awaiting EMS crew. Once the patient was brought to us, Hamburg EMS provided medical care and transported them for further evaluation.

We'd like to thank Kempton Fire Company for their outstanding teamwork and assistance during the rescue. We wish the patient a speedy recovery.

Hamburg EMS was honored and privileged to stand alongside our Schuylkill County brothers and sisters as we helped bring Sean Kelly home.
Sean passed away at Fort Drum on July 20, 2026. Today, first responders and members of the community came together to ensure he was welcomed home with the honor, dignity, and respect he deserved.
It was a powerful reminder of the bond shared among our emergency services and military communities. When one of our own comes home, we stand together.
Hamburg EMS extends our deepest condolences to Sean’s family, friends, loved ones, and all those whose lives he touched. We are grateful to have been a small part of honoring his life and service.
Welcome home, Sean. May you rest in peace. 🇺🇸

Air Quality Alert: Protect Yourself & Your Family

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Purple Air Quality Alert due to elevated levels of fine particulate pollution. Smoke and poor air quality can affect everyone, but children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with asthma, COPD, or heart disease are at the greatest risk. (Pennsylvania.gov)

Hamburg EMS encourages everyone to take the following precautions:
- Limit prolonged outdoor activities, especially strenuous exercise.
- Keep windows and doors closed whenever possible.
- If you must be outside for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask.
- Stay hydrated and keep any rescue inhalers or prescribed medications readily available.
- Watch for symptoms such as coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, or difficulty breathing.

If you or a loved one experiences severe difficulty breathing, chest pain, confusion, or symptoms that feel like a medical emergency, call 911 immediately.

Stay informed by checking your local Air Quality Index (AQI) before spending time outdoors. Air quality conditions can change throughout the day. (Pennsylvania.gov)

As we celebrate America’s birthday, we wish everyone a fun, memorable, and safe Independence Day weekend!

🌡️ With an Extreme Heat Warning in effect, please take extra precautions:
💧 Drink plenty of water.
☀️ Limit time outdoors during the hottest part of the day.
🧢 Wear light clothing and sunscreen.
👵 Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those with medical conditions.
🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

🎆 Celebrate fireworks safely! Attend professional displays when possible. If using legal consumer fireworks, follow all safety instructions, keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, and keep children at a safe distance.

Our crews will be on duty 24/7 throughout the holiday weekend, ready to respond whenever our community needs us.

Hamburg Emergency Medical Services extends our deepest condolences to the Pennsylvania State Police and the family, friends, and fellow troopers of Trooper Michael Pahira, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty today.

Every day, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, and dispatchers answer the call knowing the risks that come with protecting our communities. Today, we mourn alongside our brothers and sisters in blue as we remember a life dedicated to service, courage, and selfless commitment.

Please keep Trooper Pahira’s loved ones, the Pennsylvania State Police, and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Trooper Michael Pahira. Your watch has ended, but your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
