A reminder that although it has rained recently we are still in a burn ban. With the higher winds and low humidity today, there is an elevated risk of brush fires.

The annual statewide BURN BAN is in effect now through May 14.

The combination of dry fine fuels, wind gusts and low humidity values will contribute to an elevated risk this afternoon. Use caution if handling ignition sources, machinery or matches. Properly extinguish and dispose of cigarette butts.

🚨 Junk Vehicles Needed for Life-Saving Training 🚨

Live, hands-on training is essential to prepare our responders for real emergencies—and right now, we need your help.

We are currently seeking junk vehicles to use in training exercises. These vehicles allow our team to practice every aspect of auto accident response, from patient care inside the vehicle to operating extrication equipment on Hamburg Rescue 7.

This need becomes even more critical in the spring. Each May, we host the Hamburg High School EMT class for an Extrication Day training, where nearly 100 students gain invaluable, real-world experience. Your donated vehicle helps give these future EMTs the hands-on training they need to save lives.

If you have a junk vehicle you’re willing to donate, it can be a tax-deductible contribution that directly supports emergency training in our community.

📞 For more information or to donate, please call Ric at 716-491-8684

Thank you for helping us train today to save lives tomorrow.

Please join us in congratulating 1st Assistant Chief Thomas Moses and 2nd Assistant Chief Connor Moses on successfully completing the National Certification for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I! 🔥🚒

This is a significant achievement that reflects their dedication to the fire service, commitment to continued learning, and passion for training the next generation of firefighters. Their hard work helps strengthen not only our department, but the safety and preparedness of our entire community.

Congratulations, Chiefs—well deserved!

This month for Department Drill we were fortunate to have the Southtowns Haz Mat Team Leader, John Makin, lead us in Hazmat Training. We discussed different hazardous materials emergency responses, safe usage and understanding of our 4 Gas Meters, and the capabilities of our local Hazmat team.

Spring is nearly here, and so is the annual burn ban. As the snow melts and temperatures rise, New York State is at an increased risk of wildfires in the spring. A burn ban is in effect until May 14th.

Let us introduce the new Hamburg VFD Ambulance.
After 9 years and 9 months, over 15,000 EMS calls (1,591 calls in 2025 alone), and 154,385 miles, it was time for an upgrade.

The last few years our ambulance committee has been working with Gorman Enterprises and Life Line Emergency Vehicles to build an ambulance that best fits our department. It passed all its inspections, and was put in service this morning. We are excited for what this new ambulance will see over the next few years.

Remember last week when Mrs. Watkins' 5th Grade class was challenged to dig out a local fire hydrant during their snow day? ❄️ We do! What is a better reward for being a community hero than a Friday Pizza Party!🍕❤️‍🔥

We can't thank these students enough for setting such a good example! Keeping a fire hydrant clear during heavy snow can save valuable minutes in the event of an emergency. đźš’ Keep up the great work!
