Announces Over $1 Million for Emergency Operations Center in Hamden*****

TUESDAY, June 16t at 11:00 AM, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) will join Mayor Adam Sendroff, state and local leaders, and law enforcement to announce over $1 million she secured in federal Community Project Funding (CPF) for the town of Hamden to build an Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
The EOC will enhance Hamden's disaster preparedness, response capabilities, and recovery efforts. The facility will serve as the nerve center during emergencies, providing a centralized command, coordination, and communication hub that integrates county resources, emergency services, and partner agencies to effectively manage crises of all scales with flexible workstations, advanced communications infrastructure, specialized technology, and more.

The Hamden Police Department is aware of an incident that occurred at Bear Path Elementary School and is actively investigating the matter. Law enforcement officers and emergency personnel responded promptly and are continuing to assess the situation.

Additionally, Hamden Police is asking for the public to stay clear of the area and to not respond to the school.

Public safety remains our top priority. The incident remains under investigation, and information is still being confirmed.

Join our friends at Primitive Pentecostal Church for their 3rd annual Community Impact event on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM at 20 Columbus Street. This free event will offer clothing, school supplies, music, activities for children, and more.

This morning, we proudly kicked off Day Two of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, carrying the Flame of Hope from Hamden to the Cheshire town line in support of Special Olympics Connecticut.

A special thank you to Sgt Vey, Sgt Jason, Officer Brandon, and Police Cadet Kassandra Biagtan for helping make today’s run a success. Your enthusiasm and support are greatly appreciated!

Together, we continue to raise awareness and support for the incredible athletes of Special Olympics. 💙💛

The Hamden Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of K9 Knight, beloved partner of Captain Jason Venditto.

Since joining the department in 2018, Knight faithfully served the Town of Hamden with loyalty, courage, and dedication. Specializing in Patrol, Evidence Recovery, and Narcotics Detection, Knight played an important role in protecting and serving our community throughout his career.

Chief Reynolds shared, “K9 Knight was more than a colleague; he was a trusted partner, a symbol of loyalty and bravery, and a vital part of our team. His service and dedication were evident in every task he undertook, and his absence is profoundly felt by everyone in the department. Our thoughts and support are with Captain Venditto and his family during this difficult time. The legacy of K-9 Knight will always be honored and remembered with the highest respect.“

We thank K9 Knight for his years of faithful service and the lasting impact he made on both the department and the community.

The Hamden Police Department Grief Family Support Group is offered to any Hamden resident who has suffered an untimely loss of a loved one that involved a police department response.  This group meets regularly the first Thursday of every month for one hour.  Food and refreshments will be served. Please feel free to bring a support person. The group is open to all ages.
