The Hamilton Police Division is excited to celebrate national Donut Day!

Did you Know....National Doughnut Day, or National Donut Day — celebrated in the United States and in some other countries, is on the first Friday of June of each year, succeeding the Doughnut event created by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938 to honor those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.

What's your favorite flavor?

On Mother’s Day our Operation Reassurance Seniors had an unexpected personal visit from Detective Pellegrino (pictured on right next to CPO Det. O'Hare) who delivered a rose to all who were mothers on behalf of the Community Policing Unit. Detective Pellegrino has operated Operation Reassurance since the beginning of the pandemic, however this program is normally operated by civilian volunteers. Operation Reassurance ensures that people living alone will have personal contact each day with someone to make sure all is well.

Know a senior who lives alone? Wish to volunteer for the program? See details at the link below.

National Police Week occurs every May, and in 2021 we will be commemorating it with virtual events that can be viewed from anywhere in the world. From May 9–15, the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum will deliver programs to keep current officers safe and healthy, as well as ceremonies to honor those fallen officers whose names have been recently added to the Memorial. Be sure to mark your calendar for the 33rd Annual Candlelight Vigil, happening virtually on Thursday, May 13 at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern).

If you would like join us at the Candlelight Vigil, please register here: https://nleomf.org/programs-events/national-police-week/candlelight-vigil

Members of the Hamilton Police Division will be participating in the Police Unity Tour, to remember those officers who have died in the line of duty. Normally this would occur in conjunction with Police Week, however do to the pandemic the ride has been postponed until later this year.
