My opponent has put out an op-ed calling for the end of “permanent” property tax levies.

That may sound great on the surface, but would greatly endanger funding for our local schools and other services, which often have levies on the books from over 25 years ago whose millage rate has been consistently reduced due to state law.

He’s willing to make exceptions for police and fire departments, but not for schools, developmental disabilities, children’s services, senior citizens, mental health or parks.

This proposal would be devastating to working families in Butler County.

The County Commissioners should stand down and respect the ruling of the Board of Zoning Appeals. This is another unnecessary legal battle that taxpayers will foot the bill for.

Happy to attend Opening Day of the Butler County Fair and meet former Governor Dick Celeste. Also had the chance to visit a number of the animal barns.

This is just part of the reason why large-scale data centers are problematic and I would not support them in Butler County.

The proposed budget just shows how misguided the priorities of the current Butler County administration is. Most departments are stuck with a 2% budget cap, which doesn’t even cover the cost of inflation, even though the County has nearly $110 million in reserves.

Meanwhile, Sheriff Jones gets 6.5% percent to help operate his for-profit jail system, in which over half of the current inmates are ICE detainees or from the U.S. Marshals Service. That’s not using taxpayer dollars to make Butler County a safer or better place to live.

The Butler County sheriff has submitted a $68 million early spending plan for next year that estimates a 28% revenue hike for housing illegal immigrants and other inmates from outside
