You've been asking about the 1976 time capsule, and now that the dust has settled (literally), here's what we've learned!

The most important lesson: paper and underground moisture are not exactly best friends. Who knew?! 🙃

While many of the paper items didn't survive their 50-year journey beneath the replica Liberty Bell, a few tangible artifacts made it through and will be preserved and displayed by the Butler County Historical Society.

We'll be sharing more details during the week of the 4th of July, but until then, enjoy these behind-the-scenes photos from the day we opened the capsule early. And honestly, it's probably for the best that we didn't discover the condition of some of the contents live in front of hundreds of people on Independence Day. 😂

Sometimes history doesn't go quite as planned, but it's still a story worth telling!

Catch a free screening of Airborne ('93) this weekend at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts and relive the classic movie that was filmed right here in Hamilton.
