🍕🌾🐯 FROM THE FIELD TO THE PIZZA! 🐯🌾🍕

Our elementary Ag students are continuing their journey to discover what REALLY goes into making a pizza!

After learning about the different ingredients on a pizza and where each one comes from, students are now digging deeper into the foundation of every great pizza—the DOUGH! 🍕 And that means starting all the way back in the wheat field. 🌾

Students kicked off their lesson by watching how wheat is harvested before putting their new knowledge to the test with a relay puzzle challenge! Teams raced to put the steps of the wheat-to-flour process in the correct order.

Then came the fun part—CHARADES! 😂 Students acted out the different steps in the process while their classmates tried to figure out which step they were demonstrating.

They’re learning that the food on our plates doesn’t just come from the grocery store. There are farmers, crops, equipment, processing, science, and a whole lot of work behind every bite!

Hands-on, moving, laughing AND learning—that’s elementary Ag at Hamilton! 🧡🖤

🦋🐛 FROM CATERPILLARS TO BUTTERFLIES! 🐛🦋

Our PreK–2nd grade students have been learning all about butterflies—and they’ve been spreading that learning across the curriculum! 🧡🖤

Students watched the amazing butterfly life cycle firsthand as they placed several chrysalises in their butterfly habitat and patiently waited for their butterflies to emerge. They also brought a little art and math into the fun by creating beautiful symmetry butterflies to brighten our hallways. 🦋🎨

And you never know who might show up at Hamilton…a few CRAZY caterpillars even stopped by for story time and shared The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle! 🐛📚😂

The best part came when students headed outside to release their butterflies and watch them fly away! 🦋☀️

Science, reading, math, art, observation, and a whole lot of excitement—all wrapped into one memorable learning experience!

We love watching our littlest Tigers learn, explore, and discover! 🧡🖤

🌊☀️🐯 WHAT A WAY TO KICK OFF THE SCHOOL YEAR! 🐯☀️🌊

Students in grades 6–12 took the afternoon out of the classroom and headed to Stillwater’s Edge for some fun, adventure, and time together!

From zip lining and kayaking to paddle boarding and some serious competition on “King of the Mountain,” there were plenty of laughs, challenges, and memories made! 😎🛶

Days like this are about more than just having fun—they’re about building relationships, strengthening our school family, and starting the year connected and ready to take on what’s ahead.

🧟‍♀️📚 SAVE THE TEACHER! 📚🧟‍♂️

Our 7th graders had a pretty important mission today…turn their teacher back into a human after being MUTATED BY ZOMBIES! 🙃😂

To find the cure, students had to put their spelling and vocabulary skills to the test through a series of challenges, mazes, puzzles, riddles, and secret codes.

Every correct answer brought them one step closer to reversing the mutation—and gave them plenty of opportunities to practice vocabulary, spelling, problem-solving, and teamwork along the way!

Who knew saving your teacher from a zombie mutation could involve so much learning?! 😂

🏺🐯 HANDS-ON HISTORY IN ACTION! 🐯🏺

Our freshmen kicked off the school year by stepping into the shoes of archaeologists! Students explored how archaeologists uncover artifacts and use those discoveries to learn how ancient civilizations lived, worked, and survived.

Working independently or with a partner, students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work designing and building their own model archaeology tools. Using craft sticks, pipe cleaners, cardboard tubes, and plenty of imagination, they created everything from pickaxes, shovels, trowels, and brushes to pitchforks and even a foraging basket! ⛏️🧺

To wrap up the project, students presented their creations to the class, explaining how their tool would have been used and the reasoning behind their design choices.

History is so much more than reading about the past—it’s asking questions, creating, investigating, and discovering how people lived before us.

Great start to the year, freshmen! 🧡🖤

Having trouble with the Rooms App?

We understand some of our parents are having issues with the USD 390 app and receiving notifications in the Rooms platform. Here are a few tips to help:

First, try deleting the USD 390 app and reinstalling it.

Upon opening the USD 390 app for the first time (or after a reinstall), you should see a prompt asking whether you allow Notifications. It is important that you Allow Notifications so that you can be notified when teachers post announcements or send you messages. (Set notifications in Apple and Android.)

When you receive Notifications from Rooms, it will appear similar to how a text message or social media alert appears on your phone. Tapping on the Notification will take you to Rooms on the app. You will see a red badge (dot) on each Class where you have unread content.

Users should access Rooms daily to check for any additional information posted by teachers.

If you initially clicked "Don't Allow" on the app, or would like to confirm that Notifications are enabled, you'll need to open your phone's Settings- -.Notifications - -. USD 390--Allow

If you have taken the steps above and are still not receiving notifications, it may be necessary to restart your phone. Delete and reinstall the USD 390 app. Be sure to ALLOW notifications. Shut down your phone, then turn it back on. (The process allows permissions to reset allowing notifications.)

We appreciate your patience as we all learn the new Rooms platform. Please reach out to the school for support if you are continuing to have issues.

Good afternoon, Tiger family! Here is an update for tomorrow and Friday's games due to the heat index. For junior High games tomorrow... Volleyball has been moved to 6:00 and 7:30 for football. Friday's game has also been pushed back one hour to a start time of 8:00pm. All games are in Madison this week.
