Public Service Announcement

Scammers are becoming increasingly convincing and they can make there calls and text messages appear to come from legitimate businesses, government agencies, and police departments.

Police Officers, Courts, Government Agencies and legitimate businesses will not demand immediate payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other unusual payment methods.

The Hamilton Police Department urges everyone to be cautious when giving any personal information or banking information over the phone or text message.

We’re proud to invite community members to our 2026 Hispanic Citizens Police Academy, an opportunity to learn firsthand about the work of the Hamilton Police Department, ask questions, share perspectives, and build meaningful relationships.

Through interactive sessions on topics including patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement, K-9s, drones, SWAT, and more, participants will get an inside look at how we serve our city every day. Together, we can continue building a safer, more connected, and welcoming Hamilton for everyone.

Frontline Hamilton Police cruisers are now equipped with donated AEDs, thanks to the generosity of Project Heart ReStart.

These lifesaving devices can make a critical difference during a cardiac emergency, helping officers provide immediate care in the moments before EMS arrives. We’re grateful to Project Heart ReStart, a nonprofit working alongside hospital organizations and foundations, for selecting Butler County as the sixth phase of its Southwest Ohio fundraising efforts over the past three years.

Special thanks to Ft Hamilton/ Kettering Health and other community healthcare partners for investing in the safety and well-being of our community. 💙🚓

🏆🏆On Friday, July 24th, HPD celebrated the retirement of Detective Mark Hayes and the promotion of Detective Hank Adkins.

🎉Detective Mark Hayes gave more than 30 years of dedicated service to the Hamilton community. From patrol officer to detective and sergeant, Detective Hayes demonstrated courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others, especially children. We thank him for his lasting impact on our department and community, and wish him all the best in retirement.

🕵️‍♀️Since joining the Hamilton Police Department in 2013, Detective Hank Adkins has served our community with distinction in patrol, traffic enforcement, and as a therapy dog handler. We look forward to his continued service in the Investigations Bureau.

🏆2025 HPD OVI Enforcement Award- recognizes an officer who demonstrated commitment to removing impaired drivers from the roadway during 2025.

🏆2025 Rising Star Award- recognizes an officer with less than three years at HPD who demonstrates exceptional promise and early contributions to the department.

🏆2025 Hamilton Traffic Safety Award- recognizes an officer for exceptional contributions to roadway safety through proactive traffic enforcement.

On Friday, 7/31/26, the City of Hamilton Police Department swore in 10 new officers. We are excited for them to join our team and to begin helping our community!

We understand there have been many questions about the usage of Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, and more specifically, how that technology applies to Flock Safety Systems. ALPR technology has been available and used by police in our region for well over a decade.
Regarding Flock Safety Systems' use of ALPR, there is quite a bit of information being disseminated, some accurate and quite a bit that is not. Attached is a synopsis of how HPD uses the information, the restrictions we place on use of the system, and a couple of our success stories. Criminal cases, recovered stolen vehicles, hit-skips, and missing persons reports are solved regularly with ALPR technology, providing very important puzzle pieces that would not exist without its use.
We remain committed to our community and being transparent with our use of existing technology while following best practices and legal guidelines.

The Fitton Center’s 2026–2027 Season Launch will take place on Friday, August 14, from 5–9 p.m. This free event will feature live music, art, and community engagement, and will offer a first look at the upcoming season. The Hamilton Police Department supports the Fitton Center and its ongoing involvement in our community!
