We have been getting quite a few questions about fireworks inside Hamilton City Limits. Here is a reminder of our ordinances as you prepare for the upcoming holiday.

63.010 - Fireworks can be used July 1 through July 5. No fireworks should be discharged before 8 a.m. or after 11 p.m.

75.2440 - It shall be unlawful to discharge fireworks known as "bottle rockets" or any firework resulting with a trajectory away from the point of discharge in excess of ten (10) feet in any location within the city.

🎉Happy Graduation Day to Hamilton Police Department's newest officer, Zach Morton 🎉

Officer Morton graduated from Missouri Western State University Regional Law Enforcement Academy and most recently has worked in corrections.

Officer Morton will begin field training with Chief Kirkendoll and Captain Gray next week. We are excited to have you on our team, Officer Morton!

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT – HAMILTON AREA ⚠️

The Hamilton Police Department is monitoring the potential for severe weather across our area this afternoon and evening.

From now through approximately 9:00 PM, conditions may support the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing:
🌪 Tornadoes�🧊 Large hail�💨 Damaging winds�🌧 Heavy rainfall and localized flooding

Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware throughout the day and evening. Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including weather radios, smartphone alerts, local media, and trusted weather sources.

If a warning is issued for our area, take immediate action. Do not wait until severe weather is visible. Review your severe weather safety plans now and know where you will seek shelter if conditions worsen.

Please avoid driving through flooded roadways. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. Even a small amount of moving water can be dangerous.
The Hamilton Police Department will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary. We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and prepared.

Please see ordinances regarding swimming pool enclosures within the City Limits of Hamilton. Please ensure your pool meets these requirements with an enclosure. We will be following up with owners not following the ordinance this week.

The Hamilton Police Department is currently investigating several fraud and scam reports involving individuals being contacted by unknown persons requesting personal information, banking details, and the download of payment-related applications.

In several recent incidents, victims reported being instructed to download the “Venmo Business” app in order to receive payment for items they were selling online. The suspects then claim the payment is not processing correctly and instruct the victim to send money using iTunes cards or Apple gift cards, which are difficult to trace and recover.

Victims are often provided with a phone number for alleged “customer service.” These individuals then attempt to obtain personal information, banking information, and account details. Officers with the Hamilton Police Department contacted some of these numbers during the investigation, and the individuals immediately disconnected the call upon learning they were speaking with law enforcement.

Please remember:
• Never provide personal, banking, or identification information to unknown individuals.
• Legitimate businesses and payment services will not request payment through gift cards.
• Be cautious when selling items online and verify all transactions independently.

Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and we encourage everyone to remain alert and cautious. If you believe you have been targeted by a scam or fraud attempt, please contact the Hamilton Police Department.

A message from our street project contractors.....

Dear Resident,

If your street has just recently been pulverized and graded there is more prep work coming prior to paving. Starting Tuesday through Friday please do not park on or next to these streets between 7 AM & 5 PM as we will be performing additional work. If you see us working in the area please do not drive down the street we are working on, take a different route avoid us if you can, it keeps us all safer. Streets are highlighted in pink. We thank you in advance for your cooperation!
