👏👏 Can we get some applause for retiree Lisa Sizemore?

After 35 years with Lakota, Lisa is retiring as a beloved 2nd grade teacher at Wyandot ECS. She cherished teaching so many wonderful children, partnering with families, and working alongside fantastic colleagues—all with the shared goal of helping little learners face life with confidence and kindness.

While she has loved teaching children to read, write, and count, Lisa is excited to discover what life looks like without daily classroom responsibilities.

Thank you, Lisa, for your heart, dedication, and lasting impact on generations of students! 💙📚

What would students miss if they weren't in band? 🤔

At Plains Junior School, the answers filled two chairs. 🪑🪑

As part of a new tradition called "Fill the Chair," Ms. Brinkman asked her 7th and 8th grade band students to write one or two words that describe what band means to them or what they would miss if band wasn't part of their lives.🎺🎷🥁

The words they chose were powerful:
Connection 🔗
Belonging ❤️
Friends 🫶
Safety 🛡️
Family 🏡
Resilience 💪

Families had the opportunity to view the chairs during the final concert of the year and capture photos of their students sitting in them. 📸

The chairs now sit proudly in the band room as a symbol of the experiences, friendships, challenges and memories that define the school's program. Next year, a new class of students will add their own words and continue the tradition.

Long after the final note is played, their legacy will remain. And we can't wait to see what future students add to the story.🥰

What word would you add to the chair?

Creativity was the name of the game for Ms. Hill's math class at Cherokee. 🎲

Working in teams, these fourth graders designed and built their own math board games, complete with unique themes, custom rules and plenty of creativity. ✨

Some students took their projects to the next level by sculpting game pieces from clay. One group even designed a homemade putting green as part of the gameplay. And let's not forget the rulebooks! ⛳🎨📖

Once the games were finished, students had the chance to play each other's creations and see just how many different ways math and imagination can come together. ➗️💡

What a great example of how creativity, collaboration and critical thinking can bring learning to life. 🎲➕🤩

What's your family's favorite board game? Tell us in the comments!

What started as a teacher stumbling upon discarded terra cotta pots quickly turned into an unforgettable fourth grade project focused on recycling, gardening and fun. 💡

Woodland's fourth-grade teaching team brought in leftover paint and potting soil to go with the pots and, after dividing a spider plant from the school's hallway, their students' creativity took over from there! 🎨

This spontaneous project gave students a hands-on lesson in sustainability while showing them how small actions can make a big impact. 🤩

A perfect reminder that meaningful learning can grow from the most unexpected places. 🌼🪴♻️

🎉 Let’s hear it for Kelly Gohmann! 🎉

After 33 years with Lakota, Kelly is retiring as a dedicated Spanish teacher at Lakota West. One of her favorite memories was 1997, when Lakota High School split into Lakota East and West—teaching in a brand‑new school and experiencing opening day is something she still remembers vividly.

Now Kelly is looking forward to traveling, spending more time with family, and enjoying life as a stay‑at‑home dog mom. Gracias, Kelly, for an incredible career and lasting impact! 💙🌎🐾

🎉 Today we’re celebrating Sally Britton’s retirement! 🎉

After 33 years with Lakota, Sally is retiring from her role as a beloved 2nd grade teacher at Wyandot ECS. Her favorite memories center on the amazing people she’s met—and there’s nothing better than hearing, “Are you Mrs. Britton? You were my 2nd grade teacher!” out in the community.

After learning about America's most famous highway, some of our Independence Elementary School students re-created the iconic Route 66 in the school's hallway. Classmates could stop and explore popular stops along the way like Cadillac Ranch and Gateway Arch National Park. 🚙

Let's hear it for the creativity and effort they put into this fun project! 👏

Have you ever visited a famous roadside attraction or taken a Route 66 road trip? Share your favorite stop in the comments. 🗺️ 📍After all, summer's a perfect time for a road trip!😎
