A great first week back at Lakota.

From Convocation to the Lakota West Bands and Lakota East Bands community preview shows, and an incredible sunset at East Flight Night, there has already been a lot of energy across the district.

Tomorrow brings another milestone: the first day with everyone back in the buildings.

And after getting a taste of Flight Night, I’m definitely looking forward to Friday night lights being back soon.

Here’s to a great school year ahead!

This past week, I had the honor of attending the Class of 2026 graduations for Lakota Central, West, and East.

Seeing so many talented, resilient, and driven students cross the stage was inspiring. Every graduate has their own story and their own path ahead, and I’m excited for all that comes next for them.

As a Lakota graduate myself, these moments mean a lot to me. They are also a reminder of the responsibility we have to keep building opportunities for the students who will follow. I hope to do my part to make Lakota even stronger for the next generation of graduates.

Tonight’s Les Mis was powerful, but the final curtain call meant even more.
After 32 years teaching, Kim Eldridge takes her final bow. What a legacy.
Fun fact: my wife and I played in the pit orchestra for her Lakota West spring musical back in 2002. 🎭

Last week I had the opportunity to attend the Lakota Hall of Fame Induction for the first time, and it was an incredible experience.

Hearing from the inductees, it was clear that athletics taught them more than just how to compete at a high level. They talked about perseverance, discipline, and learning how to handle adversity, lessons that have stayed with them long after their playing days.

Grateful I had the chance to be there and celebrate such an outstanding group.
