Scammers are at it again!!!

🚨 SCAM ALERT🚨

It seems these scammers are turning on the shenanigans again for summertime so TPSO is turning up the πŸ”₯heatπŸ”₯ with this warningπŸ—£οΈ

This week, scammers have been calling residents around our parish claiming to be one of our newest deputies (the nerveπŸ˜‘) demanding that the resident come to our office to pay IN CASH ONLY either outstanding warrants, a civil fine or a penalty fine for missing jury duty.

‼️THIS IS A SCAM‼️

TPSO does not call individuals to β€œclear” warrants and does not collect fines over the phone. If you receive a call from someone claiming to work for the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office and you are unsure if it is legit or not, the best practice is to hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office back at 985-748-3334 or 985-748-3328.

If you have outstanding warrants or tickets that need to be paid, you will be notified via mail service and will always have the opportunity to pay in person, in multiple ways.

#✌️Annnnd we've got one targeting relatives of inmates claiming to be from law enforcement😠 An elderly victim got hit for $1300 this weekπŸ‘Ž

It sounds a little something like this:
☎️RΙͺΙ΄Ι’, RΙͺɴɒ☎️

"Hi there, this is Lt. Jane Doe with the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. ((π™€π™£π™©π™šπ™§ π™„π™£π™’π™–π™©π™š'𝙨 π™‰π™–π™’π™š π™π™šπ™§π™š)) is booked here with us on ((π™‘π™žπ™¨π™© 𝙀𝙛 π™˜π™π™–π™§π™œπ™šπ™¨ 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙀𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙒𝙀π™ͺ𝙣𝙩)) and you have an opportunity to get them released on an ankle monitor if you send us money right now on Cash App/Venmo/Zelle."

β€ΌοΈπ“π‡πˆπ’ πˆπ’ 𝐀 π’π‚π€πŒβ€ΌοΈ
❌DO NOT RESPOND❌

The caller provides legitimate info about an inmate’s booking details (𝘴𝘱𝘰π˜ͺ𝘭𝘦𝘳: 𝘡𝘩𝘒𝘡'𝘴 𝘒𝘷𝘒π˜ͺ𝘭𝘒𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘒𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘡𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝑻𝑷𝑺𝑢 𝒂𝒑𝒑, 𝘣𝘡𝘸), making them sound convincing. 𝐁𝐔𝐓, know that the TPSO (and our law enforcement partners and neighbors) *π–πˆπ‹π‹ ππŽπ“* call or text anyone regarding alternative methods of jail release. So just 𝘩𝘒𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘱.

Lastly, it’s important to remember – Do not open an e-mail attachment from any unfamiliar source, and never provide personal information to an unfamiliar source, either by phone or e-mail.

Beware and help spread the word!

On this Memorial Day 2026, 7th Ward Marshal Pat Farris pays tribute to his uncle George Farris (shown here) and his uncle George Thompson who both gave their all in service to this country. Both George Farris and George Thompson lost their lives in WWII, and while they left us far too soon, their sacrifice is still felt here today, more than 80 years later. Today we remember them and all those who gave their lives in service to this great country. They will never be forgotten.

Saturday's rain did not dampen the celebration for our Hammond and Ponchatoula graduates. 7th Ward Marshal Pat Farris and his team were honored to help "serve and protect" by providing additional security for these graduates on their special day. Special thanks to Deputy Marshals Trey O'Neill and Charles Deliberto who braved the weather to partner with our LEO friends in providing security at the SLU University Center Saturday. After the Pomp and Circumstance, our Deputy Marshals Trey and Stoney O'Neill provide metal detection wands to help with security for the Ponchatoula High Project Graduation event at the Ponchatoula Area Recreation District gym last night! A very long Saturday, but our team was proud to play a small part in making this a great and SAFE celebration for our Class of 2026 graduates!
