The Marshal's Office enjoyed another great morning visiting with fellow veterans at the monthly Veterans Breakfast at the Hammond Community Center today. This breakfast provides us with a great opportunity to share information about our office and the services available to the public and to spend time with those who have served our country and share in the fellowship and camaraderie that bring our veterans together.

Thank you to everyone who helps make this monthly gathering possible and continues to support our local veterans.

🚨 BURN BAN STILL IN EFFECT! 🚨

Tangipahoa Parish’s parish-wide burn ban remains in effect. We have not received enough rainfall to relieve the extremely dry conditions, and the risk of fires spreading quickly remains high.

🔥 Please do your part to help protect our homes, families, property, and first responders.

Until the burn ban is rescinded, NO open residential or commercial burning is permitted.

⚠️ If using a grill, fire pit, or bar-b-que pit, use extreme caution.

When in doubt, don’t burn! 🚒🔥

I had a great morning representing the Marshal's Office with the Hammond-Ponchatoula Sunriser Rotary Club and hearing a terrific and informative presentation from Morris Evans with Canadian National Railway. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with local community leaders and learn more about the organizations and industries that play an important role in our area. Thank you to the Hammond- Ponchatoula Sunriser Rotary Club, Inc for the warm welcome and a great morning!

Have a great and safe school year.

As students head back to class, school speed zones will be in effect on the first day of school. Please slow down, stay alert, put your phone away, and never text while driving through school zones.

Let's all do our part to keep our students, teachers, and school staff safe and make this a great start to the new school year!

The 7th Ward Marshal’s Office ended the week by participating in another great Back to School event at C.P. Mitchell Memorial Park in Hammond!

While gathering school supplies, children and families were able to enjoy music, snowballs, pizza, and plenty of other great giveaways.

The beginning of a new school year can be an exciting time, but it can also bring added expenses and stress for many families. We are proud to be able to support events like this that help ease that burden and make sure our local children start the school year feeling prepared, encouraged, and ready to succeed.

We wish all of our students, teachers, school staff, and families a safe and successful school year!
