July 1, 2025, City of Hammond, LA – The Hammond Police Department has arrested a Covington man after an investigation was conducted by HPD detectives, along with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Steven Paul Gauthreaux, 38 years old of Covington, has been booked on one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile and one count of Computer-aided Solicitation of a Minor. Gauthreaux’s arrest comes after he engaged for several days in illegal sexual conversations with an individual he believed to be 14 years old. Gauthreaux then arranged a date and time to meet with this minor at a location in Hammond. On July 1, 2025, Gauthreaux arrived at this location and was taken into custody by waiting HPD detectives, K9 officers, and Narcotic’s detectives.

This investigation is part of the HPD’s partnership with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office and its ICAC Task Force.

“I take the safety of our community very seriously, especially when it comes to our children. Back in January, we added two detectives to the Attorney General’s Office ICAC Task Force without hesitation. Since then, they have worked tirelessly on cases like this to make sure these vile offenders don’t victimize our children in the community”, said Chief Edwin Bergeron Jr.
