The City of Hammond has been awarded a 2026-2027 Healthy Communities Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) to support local efforts that improve the environment through litter
prevention, waste reduction, recycling, education and other community beautification initiatives.
The $6,100.00 grant, made possible through funding from the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Billy Nungesser Lt. Governor of Louisiana, will allow City of Hammond to increase city-wide
recycling participation and boost the overall volume of recyclable materials gathered. Two mobile shred events are being planned to encourage residents to "Shred the Past, Feed the Future".
This is a great way to remind people that their old utility bills are being reincarnated into clean, useful cardboard boxes or notebooks.
Dates for this shred event will be posted in the upcoming weeks.
This year, Keep Louisiana Beautiful awarded 22 Healthy Communities Grants totaling more than $177,735 to eligible organizations across the state, including parishes, municipalities, schools, universities, nonprofit organizations, state agencies and KLB Affiliate organizations.
