This past Saturday, the fire department hosted its annual Summer Family Picnic! 🚒☀️

Members and their families enjoyed a great afternoon of BBQ food, inflatable water slides, and a visit from Mister Softee. It was a great opportunity to relax, cool off, and spend time together.

Congratulations to 1st Lieutenant Dr. Joe Lizza, who was recently published in the FEMA Higher Education Newsletter. His article, “Credibility and Confidence: Cornerstones of Effective Emergency Response,” highlights the importance of trust, preparation, and effective leadership in emergency response.

Dr. Lizza serves as a member of the FEMA Region II Higher Education Collaborative, a regional network connecting FEMA Region II with colleges and universities, emergency management professionals, researchers to strengthen emergency management education, preparedness, research, and practice.

Through his professional and volunteer work, Dr. Lizza remains active nationally in emergency planning, preparedness, and response, with a particular focus on colleges and universities, educational institutions, and large venues.

Congratulations to Chief Sean Macri on obtaining his New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor certification!

This is a significant professional accomplishment that requires completing a series of steps and meeting the requirements governed by the New Jersey Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).

This is a highly specialized credential and a tremendous addition to Chief Macri’s experience and expertise. This allows the department to provide increased training and educational opportunities to its members while achieving significant cost savings.

Firefighters responded to a report of smoke inside a commercial building. Upon arrival, Command encountered heavy smoke conditions but no visible fire and provided an updated report to dispatch.

Hammonton units responded, along with the Collings Lakes Ladder, which was requested to assist with the investigation. Firefighters conducted a thorough search and identified the source of the smoke as a faulty HVAC unit located on the roof of the structure.

Walmart Hammonton made a generous donation to the department during its grand reopening event on July 24th. Chief Macri was on hand to accept the donation on behalf of our all-volunteer department.
