Earlier this morning, members volunteered their Sunday at the Hammonton Municipal Airport. Conducting an “Aviation Water Salute” over NJSP’s SouthSTAR air medical helicopter. Celebrating the retirement of SouthSTAR pilot Sgt. First Class Harper.

This past week, our 100% volunteer fire department participated in a training at the Hammonton Municipal Airport, home of SouthSTAR, the New Jersey State Police Air Medical helicopter that serves our region.

The training provided members with an overview of the state’s air medical program, helicopter familiarization, landing zone operations, and the responsibilities of the fire department during helicopter landings. Members also had the opportunity to review and test communications equipment used to coordinate air medical responses.

Training opportunities like these help ensure our firefighters are prepared to safely and effectively support air medical operations when every second counts.

Congratulations to Company No.1’s newest EMT, Firefighter Barry Avila!

Congratulations to Firefighter Barry Avila (Co.1) for successfully completing the NJ State EMT training program and passing the certification exam. The Hammonton Fire Department is proud to have a number of certified EMTs who provide care and support to both patients and fellow firefighters on emergency scenes. Great work and dedication to serving the community!

Last evening, Firefighters from Company No.1 took part in a training exercise. Led by 1st Lieutenant. B. Eppler, consisting of chauffeur training and Ariel ladder operation on Tower 9. This type of training familiarizes and prepares newer firefighters, for operating the apparatus in an emergency. Each firefighter must demonstrate competency in safe driving, pumping, ariel operation skills and hold a CEVO-4 (emergency vehicle operator) certification before being cleared by the company captain to operate the apparatus.

Today, you can find our members at White Barn Orchard’s 1st annual cherry blossom festival at 361 Route 206. This is a great opportunity for locals to speak with our firefighters, for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter and becoming more involved in your community. You can find representatives of both Station No.1 and Station No.2. Come out and show your support. We look forward to seeing you!
