HAMPDEN -- There is new information regarding the Eastern Maine Processing & Distribution Center in Hampden after recent concerns the facility could be reconsolidated.

The United States Postal Service will be holding an informational public meeting regarding the potential consolidation of the Hampden Processing and Distribution Center with the Scarborough plant. This meeting will be held at Jeff's Catering 15 Event Center Way, Brewer on Thursday, February 29th beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Impacts of losing the distribution center will not only cause a loss in jobs, but possibly the degradation of postal service to residents and businesses. The public is encouraged to attend.

Tonight's Council meeting has been postponed until the 22nd due to the worsening weather conditions. The Town Office will also be closing at 4:30 p.m. so that our staff can get home safely before the storm gets any worse. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Remember, many of our services are available on line.
