At the May 7th Village Board meeting, the Hampshire Police Department was formally presented with our Illinois Law Enforcement Accreditation during a special accreditation ceremony.

This was a proud moment for our department and our community. Through ILEAP, departments are evaluated on their policies, procedures, written directives, and compliance with professional law enforcement standards. The process is designed to strengthen accountability, reduce risk and liability, and help agencies continue operating at a high professional level.

This was also our department’s first-ever accreditation process, and it took a serious amount of time, work, organization, and commitment to get it done. A special thank you goes to everyone within our department who helped make this process a success. And an extra thank you to Lt. Neblock for leading the charge and keeping this process moving from start to finish.

We are proud of this accomplishment, proud of the work behind it, and proud to continue serving the Village of Hampshire with professionalism, accountability, and dedication.

Some towns have superheroes showing up for Cop on a Rooftop. Hampshire PD has Officer Rudolph after three iced coffees and a glazed donut. Close enough. ☕🍩

Join us Friday, May 15 from 5AM–Noon at Dunkin’ on Rt. 72 & State St. as we climb onto the roof for Special Olympics Illinois.

Sure, we may not have capes, flying sidekicks, or dramatic movie entrances… but we do have officers willing to stand on a roof at sunrise to help raise money and awareness for some incredible athletes.

Stop by, grab your coffee, make a donation, and support a cause that’s bigger than all of us.

Same mission. Different costumes. 💙

The Hampshire Police Department is proud to officially roll out the Blue Envelope Program in our community in partnership with The Autism Hero Project 💙This simple but powerful program is designed to help create safer, calmer, and more effective communication during traffic stops for individuals with autism or other communication differences.
Blue Envelopes are available free of charge at the Hampshire Police Department. There is no registration process, application, or fee required. Residents can simply stop by the department and pick one up.
Participants are encouraged to include:
🔹 Driver’s license & insurance information
🔹 Emergency contact information
🔹 Communication preferences or challenges
🔹 Medical or sensory considerations an officer should be aware of
🔹 Helpful calming techniques or important behavioral notes

By reducing anxiety and preventing misunderstandings, the program helps promote safer outcomes for everyone involved — both our community members and our officers.

We are honored to join departments across Illinois in supporting this important initiative and continuing our commitment to serving all members of our community with understanding, compassion, and respect.
