WHAT: PFAS, cyanobacteria, landfill runoff, E. coli, lead, arsenic – what’s going on?
New Hampshire is blessed with an exceptionally rich network of rivers, streams and wetlands, along with nearly 1000 public lakes/ponds and over 135,000 private wells. Yet, we may not be managing this precious resource optimally. Do we have the institutional frameworks required to diagnose, monitor and solve systemic problems before they become chronic? How does NH’s record compare with our peers in New England? How can we improve the situation? These are the questions our guests will address in this interactive session.
WHEN: Monday, September 23, 2024, 5:30-7:00 pm.
WHERE: A virtual event; registration is required (admission is free).
RSVP at bit.ly/Water_Woes_NH
Registrants will receive a link to the recording of the event.
WHY: Monitoring and managing a complex system like our waterways requires both individual competency and institutional efficiency. We have the former in our state; do we have the latter? Our need for effective environmental institutions is growing as the climate changes. Our panelists offer perspectives and recommendations for institutional reform in New Hampshire – which calls for sustained engagement from the public.
