If you have a yard full of leaves, PLEASE do not rake them into the street! The Town does not have the budget or the equipment to dispose of leaves pushed out into our streets, and the accumulated leaves then create a driving hazard especially when wet. If the leaves end up clogging our storm drains, we have to subcontract to get them cleaned out or face fines from the State (fines which may then be passed on to taxpayers)! Thank you.

All,
Our Shop with a Cop proceeds are running behind our normal level of donations. However there is still time for you to help us make a difference for some of our neighbors who need a little assistance this Christmas. Donations are always accepted at either the Police Station or at Town Hall. In addition we will be hosting a Fundraiser at Fratelli’s Restaurant in the Hampstead Market Place on Thursday, November 20th. 20% of the proceeds will be donated to Shop with a Cop. This event will run the entire day 11am thru closing.
Your support is always appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken Meekins
Chief of Police

Avoid Burst Pipes!

With freezing temperatures right around the corner, now is the time to disconnect your garden hose from your outside faucet to prevent that pipe from bursting. If your house has pipes that are prone to freezing, you may want to consider leaving a faucet on a very slow cold water drip during the night in order to keep the pipes from bursting.

For more information, go to: http://www.weather.com/activities/homeandgarden/home/hometips/severeweather/pipefreeze_prevent.html

When water freezes, it expands. That's why a can of soda explodes if it's put into a freezer to chill quickly and forgotten. When water freezes in a pipe, it expands the same way. If it expands enough, the pipe bursts, water escapes and serious damage results.
