Throwing it back to one of our favorite nights of the summer! 🦉✨💚

We’re still feeling the love from this year’s Get Wild! Gala. From celebrating our incredible community to raising vital support for the animals who need us most, it was truly a night to remember.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the evening, and continues to make our lifesaving work possible. We couldn’t do what we do without you! 🦅🐢🦊

Until next year… stay wild! 💚

We want to extend TWO BIG THANK YOUs today!
First, a huge thank you to Dave Aripotch for his generous donation of fish. We currently have a couple of very hungry ospreys in our care, and our fish supply was running very low.
Dave answered our call for help and generously donated some of his catch so that our osprey patients can stay well fed as they grow, strengthen, and prepare for their return to the wild. And, a BIG thank you to Wild By Nature for their incredibly generous daily donations of fresh greens!
Our patients are the lucky recipients, and the waterfowl, squirrels, raccoons, and so many other animals in our care certainly appreciate all that generosity.
These donations help us provide the fresh, nutritious foods our patients need while they recover, grow, and prepare for release.
We are incredibly grateful for community members like Dave and Wild By Nature who step up when our wildlife patients need them most.

Do You Know That Fall Bird Migration Has Already Started?
Depending on where you live, fall bird migration may have already begun!
From late August through November, millions of birds—including ospreys, hummingbirds, warblers, and waterfowl—will journey south to their wintering grounds. Migration is an incredible feat, but it can also be a dangerous time for birds.
There are simple things we can all do to help:
• Turn off outdoor lights from 11 PM–6 AM to help prevent disorientation for nocturnal migrants.
• Put up window decals to help prevent daytime window collisions.
• Plant native plants to provide migrating birds with food and places to rest along their journey.
And, put up hummingbird feeders as well. Every little action can make a difference. Help give our migrating birds a safer journey south.

What a fabulous night!!!
I was so honored to host Best Friends at my ranch!

It was such a special heartwarming, gathering
filled with devoted animal advocates.

Julie Castle, the CEO of BFAS gave the most passionate speech that had everybody wanting to do more to save our fur angels.

And thanks to Little Shelter. We had amazing dogs for adoption!

We also had majestic birds from the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Center of the Hamptons.

And of course, my beautiful horses graced the background.

There was delicious vegan cuisine and great country music!

It was truly a night to remember…

Did you know that Chimney Swifts forage “on the wing”, catching insects while flying? They typically live in and around chimneys—and they even build their nests inside them!
Last month, we took in three Chimney Swifts within a two-week period. They started out in handmade “nests” inside our hospital, but they soon needed a more natural environment that better suited their unique needs.
Our amazing volunteer Dina came to the rescue and built them a small chimney of their very own!
Chimney Swifts are uniquely adapted to life in the air. They are unable to perch on flat surfaces and can only cling to vertical surfaces, making their little temporary chimney the perfect home. As you can see, they’ve adapted quite well!
The next big step will be teaching them to feed on the wing once they fledge, so they’ll be ready to return to the wild.
We’ll keep you posted on their progress!
