Today, we pause to recognize International Firefighters’ Day and the brave men and women who answer the call without hesitation.

Firefighters represent strength, courage, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. Whether it is responding to structure fires, motor vehicle collisions, medical emergencies, or standing ready in times of uncertainty, they show up, every single time.

Here in Hampton County, we are especially grateful for our dedicated career and volunteer firefighters who continue to protect our homes, our families, and our community. Their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.

Behind every call is a team willing to run toward danger when others are running away. That kind of courage cannot be taught, it comes from the heart.

Today, and every day, we say thank you.

To our firefighters: you are seen, you are valued, and you are appreciated.

Stay safe, and know that your community stands with you.

SCFC to lift burning ban for all counties Friday: Officials urge vigilance while burning outdoors as drought conditions persist

COLUMBIA—The South Carolina Forestry Commission will lift the State Forester's Burning Ban for all counties, effective at 7 a.m., Friday, May 1.

Agency officials believe the combination of rain, elevated relative humidity, improved overnight recovery and a lack of significant wind in the forecast warrant removing all remaining counties from outdoor burning restrictions.

“Many areas of the state have seen rainfall this week, and higher relative humidity and fuel moisture continue to mitigate significant fire potential,” said SCFC Fire Chief Darryl Jones. “Though we expect even more rain across more of the state in the next week, people who choose to burn outdoors should still exercise vigilance as the rain we have received has not changed the state’s drought status.”

This was a reenactment

Huge shout out to our Community Risk Reduction Team for their efforts in making Prom Promise happen for the students at Hampton County High School.
This year’s topic was “The Text That Couldn’t Wait,” highlighting the dangers and real life consequences of distracted driving.

We would like to extend a special thank you to HCSO’s Jasmine Butler for assisting and coordinating many moving parts to ensure this event was a success.

We would also like to thank the following partners for their support, time, and commitment to educating our youth:

• Hampton County Sheriff’s Office
• Varnville Police Department
• Estill Police Department
• Hampton County EMS and EMRs (Family members too)
• Hampton County Fire Rescue - Members thereof
• Hampton Fire Department
• Hampton County E-911
• Hampton County Coroners Office
• Hampton County School District
• School Resource Officers and Faculty
• CareFlight
• Hampton County Emergency Management
• New Life Center

Because of your dedication, our students were given more than just a demonstration. They were given a powerful message, one that we hope stays with them long after prom night.

One text. One moment. One choice can change everything.
Make it home safe.

Look… it’s a bird.
It’s a plane.…

No… it’s Hampton County Fire Rescue putting in work. 🚒

Last night, our crews were out at Lake Warren conducting a county wide training drill, sharpening the skills that matter when seconds count. From ladder truck operations to drafting water techniques, every movement had a purpose and every moment was about preparation.

Training does not happen by accident. It happens with intention, teamwork, and a commitment to getting better for the citizens we serve.

While it may look like lights and action, behind the scenes it is discipline, repetition, and learning how to adapt in real time. Because when the call comes, there is no practice… only performance.

Thank you to all of our firefighters and volunteers who continue to show up, train hard, and stay ready.

Stay safe, Hampton County. You are protected by those who never stop preparing.
