Today, Hampton County Government honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their courage, selflessness, and dedication to protecting our freedoms will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, may we also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who gave everything for our country.

We wish everyone a safe, meaningful, and peaceful Memorial Day.

Shared from Hampton County Director of Veteran Affairs:

“Good morning,

We are asking for your assistance in sharing the South Carolina Women Veterans Survey and encouraging as many women veterans as possible to participate.
Women veterans are one of the fastest-growing veteran populations, yet many continue to face unique challenges related to healthcare access, benefits navigation, transition support, employment, and community connection. This survey is designed to better understand their experiences, identify gaps and barriers, and help improve programs, outreach, and advocacy efforts across South Carolina.
The success of this initiative depends on participation from women veterans of every era, branch, rank, and background. The more responses we receive, the stronger our ability to advocate for meaningful improvements and support services.
Please help us distribute the survey through your networks, newsletters, social media platforms, organizations, and personal contacts. Every response matters, and every voice is important.
Thank you for your continued support of South Carolina’s veterans and military community.

Very respectfully,

Dr. Caroline Fermin
South Carolina Women Veterans Coordinator
Director, Beaufort County Veterans Affairs
“Your Service Matters. Your Voice Matters.”

The Hampton County Veterans Affairs Office is proud to share information about an upcoming Veterans Benefit Fair taking place in Fairfax, South Carolina, on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

This event is being hosted by Mrs. Patricia Jenkins with Avalon Global Insurance Services and will provide valuable information regarding Medicare and discounts available specifically for veterans.

Director N. Sanders with the Hampton County Veterans Affairs Office will also be in attendance and available to answer questions regarding veterans benefits and the claims filing process.

In addition, Ms. Tina Smith, Low Country Regional Integration Officer with the VA in Charleston, is planning to attend to provide resources and support to our veterans and their families.

We encourage all veterans, spouses, caregivers, and community members to come out, ask questions, gather resources, and learn more about the benefits and services available to those who have served our nation.

Thank you to everyone working to support and honor our veterans each and every day. 🇺🇸

Please join us in celebrating a well-earned achievement within Hampton County Government.

Jeffery McAlhaney has been promoted to Building and Grounds Supervisor within our Building and Grounds Department. Jeffery is a dedicated professional, a proud husband and father, and a hardworking business owner who brings both passion and purpose to everything he does. When he is not serving our county, you can often find him outdoors enjoying hunting and fishing, supporting his son on the baseball and softball fields, or continuing his work in lawn care.

Since joining Hampton County in September 2025, Jeffery has remained committed to using his skills and experience to make a meaningful impact. His desire to help build a stronger, better community for both residents and his own family truly reflects the spirit of public service.

We are grateful for Jeffery’s dedication and proud to see him step into this leadership role.

Congratulations, Jeffery. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we look forward to all you will continue to accomplish in service to Hampton County.
