“A notable shift in the weather brought warmer and wetter conditions across much of Iowa last week as many farmers wrapped up planting,” said Secretary Mike Naig. “Cooler temperatures have led to emergence issues in some areas, but warmer weather forecasted for this week should really push the crop along.”

WATER QUALITY INCENTIVE PROGRAM (STATEWIDE) FY2022 -
Franklin Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting applications for funding through the WQI Statewide Program for the following practices up to 160 Acres:
FIRST-TIME USERS (Producers who have never used the practice before)
• Cover Crops (Fall 2021 planting) - $25/Acre
• No-Till or Strip-Till (Spring 2022) - 1st Time User at $10/Acre
• Nitrification Inhibitor (Nitrapyrin only, with fall applied anhydrous only) - 1st Time User at $3/Acre

PREVIOUS USERS (Producers who have participated in prior WQI Statewide funding or are not first-time users)
• Cover Crops (Fall 2021 planting)
o $15/Acre
