Before managing clinical operations for the 192nd Medical Group, Senior Master Sgt. Rachelle Gomez wore Army green as a tactical vehicle mechanic. A deployment loss shifted her purpose to medicine, leading her to become an elite flight paramedic and the 2020 DUSTOFF Flight Paramedic of the Year.

Now, she brings that joint-force combat experience to Joint Base Langley-Eustis to train the next generation of the VaANG. Her advice?

𝟭𝟵𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀

Officer medical providers assigned to the 192nd Medical Group Detachment-1 recently completed a mass casualty exercise to test their emergency response and triage capabilities. The team of nurses, physician assistants and nurse practitioners worked through high-intensity scenarios under pressure.

The training began at Hanging Rock Park in Salem, Virginia, where the officer team stabilized casualties in a field environment before coordinating transport to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The exercise, designed by Carilion Clinic’s Center for Simulation, Research and Patient Safety, replicated the stress and complexity of real-world operations.

"We chose to work with Carilion’s simulation center because of the team’s expertise and the realism they bring to training," said Capt. Pearce Beissinger, 192nd MDG Det-1 physician assistant. "Their ability to replicate complex, real-world scenarios makes them an ideal partner for preparing our Airmen for the challenges they may face in the field."

American and Finnish forces worked side-by-side on the 192nd Wing cyber operations floor for 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔! 🇺🇸🤝🇫🇮

The 185th Cyberspace Operations Squadron teamed up with the Ilmavoimat - Flygvapnet - Finnish Air Force at Joint Base Langley-Eustis to build trust, standardize elite tactics and strengthen NATO interoperability. But this wasn't just a basic training exchange—they made history for The National Guard's State Partnership Program.

Help us congratulate Chief Master Sgt. Rick Dumas on his promotion to the highest United States Air Force enlisted rank!

Family, friends and leadership gathered at Joint Base Langley-Eustis to celebrate his career milestone. Dumas serves as the Virginia Air National Guard military personnel management office assistant at the Virginia National Guard’s Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond. His diverse career spans critical roles from security forces to recruiting leadership.

During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Emily Huffman, VNG Military Personnel Management Office, shared remarks highlighting his dedication. Chief Master Sgt. Jasen Hendricksen, 192nd Wing Command Chief, also honored the occasion by presenting Dumas with a coin.

LaSalle Gate and Armistead Gate will maintain normal operating hours throughout the Memorial Day holiday period.

King Street Gate and Durand Gate will be CLOSED Friday, May 22, and REOPEN 0600, Tuesday, May 26.

The Visitor Control Center will be CLOSED Friday, May 22, and Monday, May 25. During the VCC closures: all visitors MUST check in using the far-right lane at LaSalle Gate.

The Commercial Vehicle Inspection Site (CVIS) will be CLOSED starting Friday, May 22, and REOPEN 0600, Tuesday, May 26. Large Commercial vehicles will be inspected at the LaSalle Gate during the closures.
