Troop 2 encompasses Bureau, Henry, LaSalle, Mercer, Putnam, and Rock Island counties. Headquarters are located in La Salle and East Moline. Troopers in Troop 2 patrol interstates I-39, I-74, I-80, I-88, I-180, and I-280. In addition to normal patrol functions, ISP Troope

rs work throughout the Troop addressing gun and drug trafficking within local communities and on the interstates. ISP responsibilities include traffic enforcement, criminal patrol, commercial motor vehicle enforcement, and assisting the public on Illinois roadways.

Yesterday, ISP Trooper Ritchie and his K9 partner, Blitz, visited the Peru Cub Scouts for a special K9 demonstration. The scouts watched Blitz show off his tracking and detection skills and learned how a K9 team works together in real-life situations. Thank you to the troop for having us!

**UPDATE - roadway reopened at approximately 5:30p.m.

SHEFFIELD โ€“ Troopers are on scene of a crash on I-80 eastbound at milepost 45 involving a Semi that struck the IL 40 overpass. IL 40 is shut down in both directions.

Extended lane closures are expected on I-80 eastbound. Please see an alternate route.

GENESEO โ€“ Troopers are handling a crash on I-80 westbound at milepost 16 with a semi that ran off the roadway. The right lane is closed. Travel delays are being reported and motorists are urged to give themselves extra time if this is their travel route.

This Father's Day, we're proud to spotlight Illinois State Police father and son Trooper duos who carry on a tradition of service across generations. Their shared commitment to protecting Illinois demonstrates how values like integrity, service, and pride can inspire the next generation.

Today, we recognize Sgt. Rex Roberts, Zone 8 Effingham (Division of Criminal Investigation), and Trooper Hunter Roberts, Troop 2.

ISP Sgt. Jason Wilson recently visited the Kewanee High School Summer Driver Education class to share an important lesson about seat belt safety.

Students participated in the Seat Belt Convincer Demonstration, a hands-on experience designed to show just how important it is to buckle up every time they get in a vehicle. During the demonstration, students were secured in a chair positioned 20 feet up an incline before sliding down a track to simulate a crash at just 5 to 7 mph while properly restrained. The hands-on lesson showed how even low-speed crashes can cause injury and how seat belts help protect vehicle occupants.

The goal is to help increase seat belt usage beyond Illinois' current rate of just under 90% and encourage safe driving habits that can save lives.

Remember: Buckle up. Every trip. Every time.
