⚠️Weather Advisory⚠️

Enhanced risk of severe weather today (6/10) for portions of northern Illinois and tomorrow (6/11) for central and northern Illinois. The most significant concerns are storms capable of producing damaging wind gusts of over 70 mph, large hail, tornadoes, and localized flash flooding.

Thunderstorms are moving into eastern Iowa and will impact most of the region through the early afternoon. While these storms are currently sub-severe, they are producing frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and occasional gusty winds. They will have the potential by early afternoon to generate locally damaging winds and up to quarter-sized hail. Remember to go indoors when thunder roars!

ATKINSON – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 Special Agents arrested 28-year-old Tyler K. Hartman of Atkinson, IL for one count of Dissemination of Child Po*******hy (Class X Felony).

On May 27, 2026, ISP and the Illinois Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a residential search warrant in the 18000 block of North 1700th Avenue in Atkinson, IL related to a child sexual abuse materials investigation which identified Hartman as the suspect. Hartman was arrested and is being held at the Henry County Jail pending his first court appearance.

The Geneseo Police Department, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Kewanee Police Department, and Illinois Attorney General’s Office Forensics assisted with the investigation.

For the 23rd year, Dunkin' partnered with the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois and law enforcement agencies across the state to support local athletes and raise awareness for this incredible cause.

For the second year in a row, Troop 2 proudly hosted two Cop on a Rooftop locations at Dunkin’ in Rock Island (2711 18th Ave.) and Peru (823 Shooting Park Rd.). On Friday, May 15, 2026, from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., Troop 2 personnel joined local law enforcement officers to connect with the community and raise funds for our local Special Olympics athletes.

Thanks to the generosity and support of our communities, the Peru location raised $1,478, while the Rock Island location raised an amazing $2,148!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the event, whether you climbed on the roof, collected donations, purchased LETR merchandise, or simply stopped by to show your support. Your continued generosity helps make a difference for Special Olympics athletes across Illinois!

𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐓𝐎𝐍 – At the request of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and Princeton Police Department (PPD), the Illinois State Police (ISP) is investigating an officer involved shooting.

On May 10, 2026, BCSO and PPD officers were responding to a call of a domestic disturbance in the 2700 block of East Street in Princeton, IL while ISP Troopers assisted with providing perimeter security. ​ Officers were advised the subject was armed and holding several people hostage, including juveniles. ​ On scene, officers entered the residence and shots were subsequently fired. The subject and one juvenile were struck by gunfire. ISP officers entered the residence after shots were fired to assist with providing medical aid and transported the juvenile to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The subject was taken to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.

This is an active investigation and no further information is available at this time. Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Bureau County State’s Attorney’s Office for review.

Today, ISP welcomed 20 new Troopers today from Cadet Class 152 at a graduation ceremony at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield. The new Troopers will report to three ISP Troop locations throughout the state on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Nine of those Troopers have been assigned to Troop 2.
