The litter index is an annual roadside litter audit of each of Hampton’s ten districts., which allows HCCC to map out problem areas and schedule community cleanups for specific locations. The index takes about six hours and we provide the necessary rating tools and materials, with lunch also provided.

According to Keep America Beautiful, "Litter cleanup costs more than $11.5 billion each year. The indirect costs of litter are also considerable. For example, the presence of litter in a community decreases property values by 7 percent.”

The index takes about six hours and we provide the necessary rating tools and materials, with lunch also provided. Join us by signing up here: https://dash.pointapp.org/events/666050?token=1559817f-cf1a-4939-9c43-dda82656f11f

Did you participate in the 2026 Hampton Roads Kickoff to the Great American Cleanup? 💚

This year’s cleanup brought together 3,125 volunteers who contributed more than 4,000 hours of community service across Hampton Roads. Volunteers removed 3,720 bags of trash, 668 tires, and an estimated 90,128 pounds of litter (about 45 tons!).

Kings Point/River Oaks AAS-B sponsors were out cleaning up and beautifying their spot on Wednesday. An AAS-B sponsor beautifies as well as cleans up litter.

They picked up 2 bags of litter, 3 bags of yard waste and 457 cigarette butts in this busy area. We thank the volunteers that spent 3 hours taking care of their AAS-B! Bonus points for doing it the day before trash collection and having everything ready to go! 💚

On of the volunteers mentioned the traffic whizzing by and drivers not paying attention. 😲 Please be safe out there and watch out for our volunteers!

Today is the last day of Teacher Appreciation, but keep the appreciation going all year for those who spend countless hours with your students to help them learn and succeed.

Thank teachers not just for one day, or one week, but every day.
