Newman Wetlands Center

Newman Wetlands Center NWC is a nature area dedicated to environmental education where everyone is welcome. Newman Wetlands Center is an excellent place to see wildlife.

Newman Wetlands Center is a nature preserve that offers large group programs, self-guided programs and homeschooler Friday programs. Newman Wetlands Center’s All Terrain Chair (ATC) is available for use to visitors with mobility issues who otherwise might not be able to enjoy our park trails. We recommend bringing binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens. If you don’t have either, you can still enj

oy wildlife viewing here. When staff is available, we allow guests to borrow binoculars while they are on-site. Newman Wetland Center offers various nature trails. The first Saturday in November is our FREE family annual Wetlands & Watershed Festival.

Why should we advocate for clean water?

We do not exist without clean water.
Every one of us deserves the opportunity to recreate in safe, clean streams and rivers.
Clean water is essential to growing healthy foods.
Prioritizing watershed protection reduces treatment costs.
The plants and wildlife we love depend on clean water.

There are many more reasons. Join us for an impactful day of learning centered on water advocacy and environmental justice.

It's Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Did you know we have an app featuring stories inspired by the cultural and natural histories of Newman Wetlands Center? The app is free, and you can only hear these stories while visiting Newman Wetlands Center.

Meet "Sweet," as she finds her way through grief and the forest. Take a tour with Water as your guide, meeting her friends along the way. Travel back in time with Joe and his mule, Macy, to the Battle of Lovejoy Station when Sherman was fighting to take Atlanta. There are six stories and a poem -- there's something for everyone! The stories average from 20 to 45 minutes.

Bring your own headphones or borrow a pair of ours.

Marsh Memoirs was made possible through funds from See Clayton County, GA.
