Our Story

They say $5 doesn’t go far but we tend to disagree. For $5, you can join the Phenix Panthers PTSA!!!! Why should I join the PTSA? Research shows that when parents are involved in their children's education, the children are more likely to: *earn better grades. *score higher on tests. *pass their classes. *attend school regularly. *have better social skills. *show improved behavior. *be more positive in their attitude toward school. *complete homework assignments. *graduate and continue their education. Parents are so important to our schools success, and the PTSA is a key way that parents can support our school. Now, by “support,” we are not just talking about fundraising. Yes, we raise money for several different causes during the year, But we also organize great family events in and out of the school throughout the school year. Volunteering is an awesome way to support even if it’s for a short time or for limited events. Benefits of joining the Phenix PTSA · * Be in the know. - Creates an environment where parents are connected with the Phenix Panthers community *Nice to meet you. PTSA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building relationships and talking to one another. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences. *Share your expertise. By volunteering with your PTSA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a great cause, not only your child but the student body community can benefit. *Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTSA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education. *Making an impact. By getting involved in the Phenix PTSA you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. What are the goals of the PTSA at Phenix K-8? -Boost Children’s Well-Being. We focus on what students need to be successful in their learning, including nutrition, health, school safety, physical fitness and general well-being. We work with the school to ensure that children succeed. -Support school staff members with our grant programs and staff appreciation efforts. -To have 100% participation from our parents. Parental involvement is crucial to building this culture. Kids need to know they're not making their life journey alone. What is Advocacy? Advocacy is sharing a story or experience that your child, school or community is dealing with and turning it into an action item - or a request - for a new policy, protocol, change in funding formula or improved training opportunity. By working together to research issues and exchange knowledge, our PTA members have been sparking change in programs and policies that benefit children for over 120 years. Equity and inclusion are at the core of our work, as the PTA is a non-profit, non-commercial, non-sectarian and non-partisan organization whose volunteer leaders and members speak out on behalf of children’s rights to secure adequate laws for the care and protection of all children and youth. As a parent or caregiver, as soon as you speak to a teacher or administrator about a concern, you have become an advocate for your student! Sharing your story and asking for change at the county, state, or national level makes you one of more than 4 million parents or caregivers that are members of the PTA and who volunteer their time, energy and talents to address issues and create opportunities to support the educational experience of student.
