It's the night before the last day of school and I am so incredibly proud of the hard work the staff and students have put in at West Yadkin. Thank you families for all of your benevolence in letting us be a positive influence in your children's lives.
Tomorrow, we celebrate two incredible women whose impact on West Yadkin Elementary School will be felt for generations to come. 💙🦅
After decades of service, dedication, laughter, love, and unwavering support for children, we are honored to recognize the retirements of Mrs. Carrie Trivette and Mrs. Amanda Draughn.
Mrs. Carrie Trivette, a proud native of Yadkin County, has devoted her career to education and to the students of West Yadkin. A graduate of Appalachian State University, Carrie earned her degree in Elementary Education in 1995 and continued pursuing excellence throughout her career. She earned her National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2002, followed by a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2008 and a second master’s degree in Administration in 2012. During her time at West Yadkin, she impacted students across sixth, seventh, fifth, and second grades, leaving a legacy of strong instruction, leadership, and care for children.
Mrs. Amanda Draughn has spent 26 years serving the students and staff of West Yadkin with unmatched energy, creativity, and heart. Beginning as an ESL assistant, Amanda’s journey led her through many roles across our school, most notably in 1st grade, where she spent much of her career loving and supporting children. Beyond the classroom, Amanda brought joy and culture to our school community through talent shows, art festivals, cultural celebrations, “Christmas Around the World,” and even Flamenco dancing during our Spain cultural festival. Many students will forever remember her larger-than-life personality, her entertaining alter ego “Señora Loca,” and the joy she brought while reading to children and helping create unforgettable experiences for our students.
Both of these ladies represent what makes West Yadkin special. They have poured their hearts into this school and into generations of children and families. Their love, dedication, and influence cannot be measured.
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Trivette and Mrs. Draughn on their retirements and thanking them for the incredible legacy they leave behind at West Yadkin. We are forever grateful for the countless lives they have impacted.
Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. 🦅💙
