For , we’re only rewinding one week… because apparently that’s all the time it took for Officer Charlie to switch careers. 👀🚔➡️🚒

Last week he was wearing a police uniform. This week he’s rocking fire department swag like he’s been washing apparatuses and polishing chrome his whole life.

Honestly, it makes sense — we’ve always suspected Charlie was training for the fire service with all those naps. 😴🔥

What do you think, City of Hanahan Fire Department? Should we start shopping for him a helmet and recliner now?

Who says the rookies get to have all the fun?

Today is , and Sergeant Sealey Sealey and PFC Galluccio are out here proving that experience doesn’t just bring wisdom—it brings some serious gains.

We’re not saying they’re trying to out-squat each other, but the competition at the gym this morning was fiercer than a Friday afternoon traffic jam on Yeamans Hall Road.

In all seriousness, keeping our senior community active, healthy, and safe is one of our top priorities. Physical fitness keeps the mind sharp, the body strong, and ensures you can outrun the grandkids when they start acting up.

On Memorial Day, the Hanahan Police Department joins our community in remembering the brave men and women of our armed forces who lost their lives serving our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, let us take a moment to reflect on their service and remember the families they left behind. Today, please have a 60-second moment of silence in remembrance of their sacrifice.

"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it; it flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it."

***UPDATE*** Returned to its owner and shell-ter. Thank you!

We’ve seen our fair share of fast-moving pursuits, but today’s foot chase really tested our... patience.
Earlier today, officers responded to a call about a suspicious pedestrian blocking traffic. Turns out, an African Spurred Tortoise decided to take an unauthorized patrol down our sidewalks.
Incident Report:
Suspect: Armed with a heavy-duty shell and a zero-nonsense attitude.
Charges: Reckless walking, loitering, and resisting a swift transit.
Speed: Clocked at a blazing 0.2 mph.
Thankfully, the situation was de-escalated with some fresh greens and a lot of encouragement. We are happy to report that this slow-moving VIP has been safely secured and is currently waiting for their "shell-ter" manager (owner) to claim them.
If this big guy belongs to you, or you know who he belongs to, please contact the Hanahan Police Department so we can get him safely escorted back home.

PFC Galluccio had a little help in the car rider line this morning at Bowen's Corner Elementary! Officer Charlie stopped by (albeit in partial uniform!) to say hello and lend a helping hand. He'll be a student there soon!

Last week Chief Gebhardt had the honor of being the guest speaker for National Police Week closing ceremonies at Joint Base Charleston. It was a powerful moment to reflect, remember, and recognize the sacrifices made by our law enforcement community. Thank you, Joint Base Charleston, for hosting such a meaningful tribute.

Chief Gebhardt’s commitment to public service began at Joint Base Charleston, where he served with the 437th Security Forces Squadron from 1998 through 2001.
