📢 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Love the Pilgrim River Community Forest? Help us maintain the natural diversity that makes this forest so special this Saturday!

Buckthorn is a growing problem in the Keweenaw and throughout the region—and the Pilgrim River Community Forest is no exception.

With the help of a private donation, we are able launch a series of workday efforts to keep buckthorn in check this summer in collaboration with KISMA and Swedetown Trails. This is the first of The Keweenaw Land Trust's "Second Saturday" volunteer workdays, which will continue until October. No experience required, just a willingness to get your hands dirty and help out!

📆 Saturday, June 13th
🕙 10 AM – 1 PM
📍 Pilgrim River Community Forest, at the corner of Paradise & Pilgrim Rd.

Cool off with KLT this Friday, June 5th! 😎 Join us from 11 am – 1 pm for drinks, snacks, and good conversations at the KLT office.

You may even get a sneak peek at pottery that will be available at our Gordon Borsvold Pottery Sale this weekend! 😉

06/03/2026

Each piece as unique as the artist. 🎨 KLT has the privilege of offering over 100 pieces of the late Gordon Borsvold’s ceramic work. From functional ware like mugs, goblets, pitchers, and gorgeous teapots—to sculptural pieces and even a few lamps—there is something for every pottery lover! Not all perfect, but all packed with personality.

Visit the KLT Office at 49902 Limerick St. in Hancock this weekend, Saturday, June 6th from 10 AM – 2 PM and Sunday, June 7th from 12 PM – 3 PM, where pieces will be available to purchase via cash, check, card, or Venmo.

Proceeds will support KLT’s purchase of a new Nature Area on the Keweenaw’s north shore! By purchasing a one-of-a-kind piece of art, you’re helping expand coastal conservation on the Keweenaw Peninsula. 💚

We're excited to welcome The Make-Believe Spurs to Land Jam!

The Make-Believe Spurs, based in Marquette, Michigan, have been making music together since 2022. Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan, the Grateful Dead, John Prine, and Nathaniel Rateliff, their sound flows from intimate harmonies to high-energy, dance-worthy performances.

Guitarist/vocalist Brian Wallen is a 2nd place winner of the International Blues Challenge and an aspiring birder. Molly Wallen, a classically trained vocalist with opera roots, finds joy in crosswords and crocheting. Drummer/vocalist Mavis Farr, formerly of Cry on Cue, studied West African percussion at Oakland University and is also a talented silversmith.

Next up in our Land Jam lineup: local favorites, Keweenaw Brewgrass! 🌾

Keweenaw Brewgrass leans on bluegrass for their foundational rhythms and tight harmonies, but they also step outside the genre to cover some Texas swing and acoustic rock classics. The band describes their style as an eclectic mix of "anything rhythmic". We're so excited to welcome them back to Land Jam!

Land Jam has been a beloved KLT fundraiser for more than a decade, and we’re giving it a fresh spin this year. Join us outdoors at the Calumet Commons green space, where you can groove on the grass, grab a bite from local food trucks, and sip on tasty beverages while you enjoy great music.

Land Jam is just over two months away, and we can't wait to bring a new spin to this much-loved KLT fundraiser!

Over the next few days, we’ll be revealing this year’s band lineup—and we’re kicking things off with Brookie! 🐟

Brookie is a five-piece band rooted in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Shimmering and colorful, their sound carries hints of folk and light rock, shaped by experience in Nashville and across the Midwest. Fronted by vocalist Haley, with Cody on guitar, Alex on keys and vocals, Weston on bass, and Aiden on drums, the band draws from folk, jazz, and indie influences, blending original material with a carefully chosen mix of covers. Named after the trout native to the Lake Superior watershed, Brookie is a band belonging to this place, growing out of the Keweenaw music scene. Through performances at community events, outdoor festivals, and local venues, they are united by a shared love of music and the outdoors, which is apparent in their writing and performances.
