The Robert W. Nichol Nature Preserve and Science Center Behind the Center we have beautiful nature trails open to explore. The Robert W.

Nichol Nature Preserve and Science Center is located on 4.1 acres of land in the village of Hancock, of which .81 acres is wetlands. The Nature Preserve and Science Center, named in appreciation of the wetlands donor, is unique in that it is located in the village of Hancock and readily accessible to visitors. The property is owned and maintained by the Hancock Community Education Foundation.

The Hancock Community Education Foundation is thrilled to announce that we have received grant funding from the George A. and Margaret Mee Charitable Foundation, the A. Lindsay and Olive B. O'Connor Foundation, and the Delaware County 2026 Promotion and Development Grant to support exciting capital improvements at the Robert W. Nichol Nature Preserve and Science Center!

Thanks to the generosity of these organizations, visitors will soon enjoy:

An expanded boardwalk providing safe access to previously inaccessible wetland areas, allowing people of all ages and abilities to experience more of the preserve.

The George A. and Margaret Mee Amphitheater, a new outdoor classroom and gathering space for environmental education, performances, community events, and hands-on learning.

Enhanced children's discovery area featuring a musical interactive play station and a zigzag balance beam to encourage exploration, creativity, and active outdoor play.

These exciting improvements will make the Nature Preserve an even more welcoming destination for learning, recreation, and connecting with nature.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous funding partners for investing in our community and helping us create lasting opportunities for residents and visitors alike. We can't wait to share our progress with you!
