Today, Engine 18-2 and Tender 18-5 participated in Leesburg’s 100th anniversary parade and festivities. 18-5 brought home some hardware for the best tender. Congratulations, Leesburg on your centennial!

This past weekend, we, again had our Model A antique on display at the LAC Historical museum/ Log Cabin, alongside other Model A’ and T’s from the area. The yellow Model A belongs to George Brook’s. George is the gentleman who restored our Model A. FF Calvin Hill III and Asst. chief Rob Hill were present.

*5/12/26 - Station 18 was dispatched to assist Quinton (13) with a structure fire on Peck’s Corner- Cohansey Road. Engine 13-2 went on scene and had a shed well involved on arrival. A single line brought the fire under control shortly thereafter. Engines 18-1 and 18-2 as well as Tender 18-5 assisted on scene along with units from Station and Squad 13 and Squad 45.

Taskforce 18 recently cleared a working dwelling fire on Hell Neck Rd. The call came in reporting a camper well off with possible exposures. Engine 18-2 and Tender 18-5 responded soon thereafter with a total of 10 personnel. Chief 18-10A (Burns) arrived on scene, confirming the report. Chief Burns held command.

The assignment was scaled back to 18 units. Engine 18-2’s crew deployed (1) attack line and brought the fire u/c within an hour using their 2,000 gallon tank water. Tender 18 staged on the road with 8,000 gallons in the event more water was needed. We would like to thank our mutual aid which consisted of units from stations: 15,13,5,6,19, Canteen 6, CC14,CC21,EMSS BLS, Squad 18, LACPD.

The officers and membership of Station 18 would like to congratulate Chief Mayhew for his many years of service guiding his department all the while fostering a strong and supportive working relationship between Stations 18 and 21. We also would like to congratulate Chief Uhland on his appointment to Chief of department. Chief Uhland, “Travis” has long been familiar with many of us here at Station 18, and we are proud of the fireman and leader he is today. Best wishes both of you!

Today, the members of the Hopewell Stow Creek Fire Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Chief Mayhew for his many years of dedicated service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our department and the community we proudly serve. While he is stepping down from his role as Chief, we are grateful that he will continue to be a valued member of our department. His guidance, experience, and steady presence have left a lasting impact on all of us, and we truly appreciate everything he has given—and will continue to give—to this organization.

As we reflect on his contributions, we also look ahead to a new chapter. Please join us in congratulating Chief Uhland as he steps into his new role as Chief. We wish him the very best and offer our full support as he leads our department forward. We are confident that his leadership will continue to strengthen the traditions, values, and brotherhood that define the Hopewell Stow Creek Fire Department.
