Assistant Technician
Description: The Assistant Technician is a seasonal position. Under supervision, to carry out routine assignments and related operations in a mosquito control agency, and to do related work as required. The employee will be assigned to a full-time technician as an assistant during the mosquito season, or as required, to prevent mosquito production and protect public health.
Position Characteristics: The Assistant Technician carries out assignments, the details of which have been planned and organized by persons working at a higher level. These assignments may include working as part of a spraying crew, spraying designated sources, such as catch basins; making routine arthropod identifications and counts, as instructed; and performing general unskilled labor, inspections of yards in urban and rural areas and general housekeeping duties.
Seasonal Applicator
Description: The Seasonal Applicator is a seasonal position. Under supervision, to carry out routine assignments and related operations in a mosquito control district, and to do related work as required.
Position Characteristics: The Seasonal Applicator carries out assignments, the details of which have been planned and organized by persons working at a higher level. These assignments may include application of mosquito control products to breeding sources; source reduction projects; general facility maintenance and yard care; cleaning offices and vehicles.

*The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
*The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
*Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The District has a policy of requiring a physician’s physical fitness exam and possibly a drug test of persons who have been offered employment. Individuals, who are determined by the physician not to be physically fit for duty, will not be employed. Individuals who fail any required controlled substance testing may not be employed.
