This morning, we experienced a medical emergency at Kings Gospel Mission involving a prescription drug overdose. We are incredibly grateful that one of our shelter guests immediately called 911, allowing the individual to receive the emergency care he needed. He is now recovering.

In the midst of a difficult morning, we were reminded that even hard moments can lead to unexpected blessings. While speaking with a member of the fire department after the incident, one of our staff members shared the importance of being prepared for emergencies like this. Shortly afterward, the fire department returned with three boxes of Narcan to donate to our shelter.

We are deeply thankful to our first responders for their compassion, generosity, and partnership in helping us care for those we serve. Please continue to pray for the individual involved, for everyone at the mission, and for those who work every day to bring hope and healing to people in need.

The past few days at Kings Gospel Mission have been a reminder that ministry is rarely predictable. These are just a few moments from our “highlight reel”

• A shelter guest accidentally dropped a m**h pipe while sitting down. We found it and safely disposed of it.

• A disagreement broke out over food portions during our free nightly dinner. Even in the middle of the conflict, everyone was fed, and both had a safe place to sleep that night.

• Two shelter guests got into a dispute over a stolen stick of deodorant. It may sound small, but everything matters when you have so little.

• We helped three people complete paperwork so they could receive benefits and food assistance. Those simple conversations will help put meals on more tables than we’ll ever know.

• We had a deep conversation about God with a man who has lost everything and is now experiencing homelessness. We wrestled with hard questions about suffering, hope, and why life can seem unfair. Seeing God plant seeds in his heart was a privilege.

Every day, we encounter people from different backgrounds, with different stories, struggles, and personalities. Some days are uncomfortable. Some are heartbreaking. But every day is an opportunity to love people where they are.

We’re thankful for where God has placed us. Even in the chaos, He is at work—changing hearts, restoring hope, and planting seeds that only He can make grow.

One of our newest Academy members jumped right in to help unload one of eight mattresses generously donated by another local ministry.

It’s a reminder that restoration often begins with simple acts of service and people willing to lend a hand.

Off the Streets. Into Hope.

Body:
We are excited to welcome two new members into our Academy!

Our Academy is the primary avenue for discipleship at the Mission. A place where men can step away from the chaos of life on the streets, grow in their relationship with Christ, and begin building a new foundation rooted in hope and purpose.

As these men begin this journey, we ask that you would join us in praying for them and the others in the Academy at Kings Gospel Mission. Each of them carries a different story. Some are overcoming addiction. Others are working to rebuild their lives after the challenges of COVID made it difficult to find stable work. A few are eager to pursue the Lord with open hearts, while others are still looking back at the “good old days,” wrestling with the desire to return to old ways of living.

The contrast between them responses is clear, But one thing is true for every man in the Academy: today, they are off the streets, surrounded by people who are pointing them to Christ, spending daily time in God’s Word, and our staff is reminding them that they are part of som**hing much bigger than the mountains they are facing.

Please pray that God would soften hearts, break chains of addiction, provide opportunities for restoration, and continue transforming lives. Thank you for partnering with us through your prayers as we walk alongside these men on their journey.

June Impact Report

As we head into the holiday weekend, we want to take a moment to celebrate what God did throughout the month of June.

✨ June by the numbers:

🚿 900 showers provided
🛏️ 1,050 nights off the streets (35 beds every night for 30 days)
🍽️ 1,085 meals served
📖 15 Bible studies held
🙏 Daily prayers over our city and for lasting transformation

What a month June was!

We serve a God of Abundance, and throughout June we witnessed his faithfulness in incredible ways. Every meal served, every volunteer hour, every donation, and every life impacted is another thread in the beautiful story He’s weaving at Kings Gospel Mission.

Thank you for being part of it. Your generosity, prayers, and support are making a real difference. Together, we’re bringing the hope of Jesus to Hanford one person at a time.
