KCDSA PRESS RELEASE:
On Friday, May 8, 2026, just one day after praying for law enforcement during the local National Day of Prayer event, Kings County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Andrew Mazza began experiencing serious stroke-like symptoms.
Sergeant Mazza, a dedicated law enforcement professional and PORAC member, was rushed to a hospital in Fresno where doctors conducted numerous tests. After extensive medical evaluation, doctors discovered Andrew has a brain tumor located deep within his brain. Andrew is now facing a surgical brain biopsy to determine whether the tumor is cancerous.
This devastating and unexpected medical emergency has completely changed life for Andrew and his family overnight. Andrew and his wife, Jan, are the proud parents of a four-year-old daughter, and their family is now facing an uncertain and emotional road ahead. Between ongoing medical treatments, hospital stays, travel expenses, and the anticipated loss of income during Andrew’s recovery, the financial burden on the Mazza family is expected to be overwhelming.
Funds raised through this PORAC Fund a Hero campaign will go directly toward helping the Mazza family with:
Medical expenses and treatment costs
Travel and lodging expenses for care in Fresno
Household bills and daily living expenses
Supporting Andrew, Jan, and their young daughter during this difficult time
The need for support is immediate. As Andrew prepares for surgery and further medical treatment, the family is navigating tremendous emotional and financial stress.
Andrew has dedicated his life to serving and protecting the community, and now it is our opportunity to stand beside him and his family during their time of need.
