Magnolia St was completed yesterday evening! The Hannibal Street Department would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this overlay project. Next week we will begin preparing Bird St from Magnolia intersection to Virginia for overlay!

Update:

The City of Hannibal's yard waste lot on Warren Barret Dr is now open Sundays as well. It is open to all residents inside of the city limits, from 7:30-4:30, 7 days a week. No commercial or private contractor dumping is allowed. Items not allowed are construction waste, trash, plastic bags. Only tree limbs , leaves, grass clippings, vines, bushes are allowed to be dumped.

This month we congratulate 2 of our longer tenure employees!

David Todd started May 16, 1999. He has the longest seniority in our department. David is the Street Departments Foreman. He spearheads almost every construction/road project that comes our way. His experience and knowledge stand out in every aspect of the department. A typical day involves him operating our asphalt paver, setting up forms and figuring concrete projects, helping our mechanic in our shop, metal fabrication, welding, backhoe operator, and some days doing demolition work to condemned properties. His ability to oversee the task at hand, provide the skill and mindset needed to see it through to the finish, is a testament to the rest of us working along side him.

Secondly, we turn our focus to Darren Armour. Darren has been with the Hannibal Street Department since May 16, 2005. Darren's skill and attention to detail in construction related projects are where he shines brightest. When he is on a task, you can rest assured it is done carefully and correctly. Darren is able to apply his knowledge and dedication to any project he is involved with. On any given day you can find Darren running our asphalt roller, pouring and setting up different concrete projects, and lastly running the City's Excavator doing demolition on condemned/abandoned house. From machine, final grading, to seed and straw, he see's these through beginning to the end.

Today, 05/18, the Street Department did overlays of asphalt on Butternut, and also a piece of Timberline from Woodland to Butternut. This amounted to a total of 630 tons of asphalt. A few more patches of rough areas will be addressed in the coming weeks on Rolling Meadows and all of Oak Ridge Pond Ct.

This week a new concrete apron was installed at Luther Lane and Palmyra Road. After that, a large cut out of a rough spot of asphalt on Palmyra Rd was replaced. Along with these fixes, 3 other saw cuts were replaced with asphalt in the High School area. Taking advantage of the nice weather when we can. Another set of projects completed.

Last week Street Department crews began preparing Rendlan and Branhamfor asphalt overlay. The project was completed on time and no major issues.
