🚨Reminder🚨

The oakwood outdoor warning siren is out of service. We are in the process of ordering a new siren, but it will take several weeks to be manufactured and installed.

There are also sirens in Huckleberry Park, and Paris Gravel which you might be able to hear faintly. Please sign up for code red alerts, have a weather radio, and enable emergency notifications on your phone.

We will make a post when the siren is replaced.

🚨Message🚨

Why did the outdoor warning sirens go off today? - We quickly wanted to explain the decision to activate the outdoor warning system. During the storm event a tornado warning was issued just west of the Hannibal area. When the storm approached the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning with “tornado possible” tag on the warning along with “considerable damage.” Per our warning policy the sirens were activated.

Safety of our community is paramount and in these situations it is best to sound the sirens rather than find out later a tornado was present.

During these events we rely on spotters, radar, warning data, and live communication with the National Weather Service to help us make informed decisions.

Thank you.
