A record-breaking heat wave is moving across the U.S. this week! As temperatures rise outside, we’re reminding parents and caregivers that the temperature inside a car is even hotter. Reduce the number of deaths from heatstroke by remembering to ACT.

A-Avoid heatstroke-related injury and death by never leaving a child alone in a car, not even for a minute.

C- Create reminders. Place and secure your phone, briefcase or purse in the backseat when traveling with your child.

T- Take action. If you see a child alone in a car, call 911.

Have a summer road trip on the calendar? Before you hit the road, read our safety tips so you can make sure everyone enjoys both the journey and the destination:

1. Buckling up on every ride is the single most important thing a family can do to stay safe in the car.

2. Before you hit the road this season, please take 15 minutes for an at-home car seat check using the Safe Kids downloadable checklist.

3. Heatstroke is the leading cause of non-crash, vehicle-related deaths for children. Never leave your child alone in a car, not even for a minute.
