Officer Dennison was officially sworn in tonight as an Officer with HPD. After successfully completing the academy he will now complete at least 12 weeks of field training with one of our FTO’s. We’re excited to have him join our ranks.

Paris Gravel Incident 8-31-26

On August 31, 2026, the Hannibal Police Department responded to a report of a fight in progress on Paris Gravel Road near U.S. Highway 61 and determined the incident to be a domestic assault in which a juvenile struck his father with a tire iron before briefly barricading himself, resulting in a short standoff that officers resolved safely. The juvenile was transported to Hannibal Regional for a mental health evaluation, and no additional injuries were reported. The Hannibal Police Department encourages residents to seek support during family crises and reminds the community that local resources are available to assist those in need.

The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ralls County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Speeding on an unregistered dirtbike is never a good idea, running from the officer trying to stop you is a much worse idea. If this is you please stop by HPD to pick up your citations. If you know this male please encourage him to do the right thing, or let us know who he is and we will take care of it. We appreciate the community working together to keep everyone safe. Burglary Arrest

On July 17, 2026 at approximately 11:06 a.m. Hannibal Police responded to a burglary in progress in the 900 block of Bird Street. Officers were able to identify the suspect as 47 year old Brian Hubbard of Hannibal. Officers learned Hubbard had fled the location and entered a residence in the 800 block of Center St. Hubbard refused to exit the residence and a search warrant was obtained. During service of the search warrant Hubbard was located hiding under a couch in the basement. Items stolen from multiple burglaries in the area were recovered in the residence. Hubbard was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Marion County Jail pending charges. Hubbard was also arrested on an active warrant out of Marion County and Johnson County. He remains in the Marion County Jail.

Hannibal Police were assisted by the Marion County Sheriffs Department.

Juvenile Car Theft

On Thursday July 16, 2026, the Hannibal Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 2300 block of Palmyra Road. Later the same day, officers identified two juvenile male suspects, ages 15 and 16, both of Hannibal. The juveniles were taken into custody without incident.

The stolen vehicle was subsequently located and recovered in a wooded area near North 6th Street. Both juveniles were transferred to custody of the 10th Circuit Juvenile Office.

The Hannibal Police Department encourages residents to secure their vehicles and ensure valuables are not left in plain view.
