👮🫡A Day to Remember: Chief Martin, Captain Schibuola, Lieutenant Ufford, Lieutenant Fowler and Sergeant Casale were honored to join the family of former Hanover Chief Jim Collins at the Capitol to honor the memory of New Hampshire officers lost in the line of duty.

Chief Collins lost his life on January 30th, 1987 while helping a motorist. His family has been attending this ceremony for decades, and members of HPD have joined in recognition of the selfless sacrifice made by Chief Collins and other New Hampshire police officers.

There are 43 names etched into the memorial. While HPD will continue to honor the past, it is our hope we never have to join a second Hanover family on this day. To see the full list of New Hampshire officers that have died in the line of duty, visit the New Hampshire Fallen Officers page at:

👫👮‍♂️🎉Happy Sibling Appreciation Day from today's patrol team! We may come from different walks of life, but we are united in our commitment to serving our community. We appreciate our brothers and sisters in public safety and this community! Also though - had the officers known it's also National Work From Home Day this may have been a very different picture. Have a great weekend everyone!

NEWS RELEASE: On March 26, 2026, at approximately 2:21 PM, the Hanover NH Police Department responded to Hanover High School after an unknown person called in a threat to the front office. The school administration initiated a lockdown and coordinated with law enforcement to evaluate the threat.

Hanover Police officers, assisted by the Norwich (VT) Police Department and the Grafton County Sheriff’s Office conducted a thorough search of both the interior and exterior of the school and surrounding campus. No credible threats or hazards were identified.

After the school was cleared, officers remained on campus to assist school staff with a controlled early release of students. The school was allowed to fully reopen shortly after.

This incident remains under investigation by the Hanover Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit. Any person with information regarding this incident can call HPD at 603-643-2222 or submit an anonymous tip at https://www.hanovernh.org/265/Police-Department.

The mission of the men and women of the Hanover Police Department is to “provide professional and compassionate police service through partnerships that build trust, reduce crime, create a safe environment and enhance the quality of life in our community".
