Are you ready for the SAT? Read below for the details of our School Day SAT.

**Juniors and Seniors**

Location: Middle School LGI
Date: Wednesday, October 16th
Cost: $60
Registration: Complete the ink at the bottom of this post.
Sign up deadline is Wednesday September 25, 2024.

***Testing will be limited to a maximum of 60 students. Once registration is finalized, specific test-day details will be shared. Students should check their school email accounts regularly.***

What is the School Day SAT?
-The School Day SAT is the same as the SAT, only it occurs during the week/ school day
-The SAT is a standardized test that measures students’ knowledge of reading, writing, and math- which are key components in college readiness

Who should take the SAT?
-Students in grades 11 &12 who are considering attending college

How should students prepare for the SAT?
-Students should learn more about the SAT, how its structured, and utilize practice tests available online

A new nationwide number was recently introduced: “988” is the three-digit, nationwide phone number to connect directly to the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline. The 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline provides 24/7, provides confidential support to people in suicidal crisis or mental health-related distress.

York College of PA is introducing a new series titled "Spartan Speaks". The series is composed of 18 presentations by our talented faculty and will air every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. beginning Thursday, February 18 and runs through April 20. We are inviting prospective students and families, high school classes, community members, and alumni to join us on Zoom for these wonderful presentations covering a full range of interesting and engaging topics. Each session will also include an interactive Q&A session with our presenters.

The first session, LIVE FROM YORK HOSPITAL: A hospital's intensive care unit is never "business as usual!", is this Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and is a session live from the intensive care unit at WellSpan York Hospital!

Gettysburg College is excited to offer several opportunities for high school juniors and sophomores to attend virtual academic camps over the summer months. Subjects include psychology, history, and creative writing. Please find information to share with your students about our academic camps below:
Virtual Camp Psych: Campers will get hands-on experiences that introduce them to research in psychology during this fun, challenging, and engaging introduction to the field.
Civil War Era Studies Virtual Camp: Campers will get to enjoy historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania while studying American Civil War History through unique learning experiences. Students will explore the circumstances leading to the war, investigate significant battles during the war, and explore the condition of the United States after the war.
Young Writers Virtual Workshop: Students gain an in-depth introduction to all four genres of creative writing: fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and writing for stage and screen.

Covering the Gap – Pieces of the Puzzle to Help Pay Your Education Bill: Understanding education balances can be confusing and whether you’re trying to address the costs or beginning to plan for higher education, this review is for you. PHEAA, represented by Linda Pacewicz and Daniel Wray of PA Forward, are offering one-hour webinars on the topic of Covering the Gap. These webinars emphasize best practices (such as seeking grants and scholarships first), reminds families about additional resources (such as payment plans), and touch on private/alternative loans as a last resort. The discussion will also include the basics of credit: what is a credit score, what factors impact a credit score, how can a credit score be improved and the effects on your borrowing capability.
