Hurricane Season Preparedness / Understand Forecast Information

As hurricane season approaches, do you know how to read and understand a forecast? Forecasts provide critical information, including a storm's projected path, expected rainfall amounts, wind speeds, and more often days before a storm arrives.

Taking the time to understand what that information means can help you and your family make informed decisions and stay safe.

Hanover Fire-EMS Paramedic students recently completed the American Heart Association Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Prehospital Course as part of their stroke medical lecture series!

The ASLS course sharpened our students' critical thinking skills to better assess and care for patients experiencing various types of strokes in the field.

It's Hurricane Preparedness Week, a time to understand your risk and get ready before storms form. All this week, Hanover Fire-EMS will be sharing tips on hurricane hazards such as dangerous winds and water, how to prepare your home and family, and steps to take before, during, and after a storm.

Take a moment today to review your emergency plan, check your evacuation routes, and make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

The best time to prepare for hurricanes is BEFORE hurricane season begins. Avoid having to rush through potentially life-saving preparations by waiting until it’s too late. Get your disaster supplies while the shelves are still stocked, and get that insurance checkup early, as flood insurance requires a 30-day waiting period. noaa.gov/prepare-before-hurricane-season
